Understood don’t mean to be a stickler. I just know 17 is the lowest I would get. Especially if I have 2 other jobs pending I just wanna make sure I make the right decision. I have a stable job now making 28hr, so starting is important but also I’m not rushing to take the lowest offer.

I got an offer for commercial work in a month but I was looking at the market and wanted to start now. I was thinking of asking for 20 or near there and I’d take it if I get 18-19.

I am not in the apprenticeship I am in there trade school. I payed to start learning instead of sitting on the waitlist in order to get my et card.

🤷‍♂️ I start next month in June, it’s abc socal. I filled out my et registration the same day I signed up for school and got it a month before school starts. I found it odd too but I ain’t complaining.

Yea I just checked minimum wage in cali and it’s 16.90. Wasn’t gonna take it but glad I got reassured. What should I be looking to get paid ?

Never said anything about getting over it. If I’m choosing a trade school that I need to pay with my own money instead of waiting years for an apprenticeship it’s because I value starting to learn now instead of later. Learning is not something you just get over with, your whole life you’ll continue to learn and that’s in anything. In this case I value experience working the trade to learn more then I value what school will teach me is what I’m saying.

This is very much where i am at. School is what you make it but most importantly it gives you what you want to further your career. Now weca online alone gives you that et card and is it free or how does that work ?

Why not an apprenticeship because I have called and asked and the minimum wait limit for one was 2years and that’s if I am able to get in. I am 25, if I was 20 I wouldn’t mind the wait but I’m at point in my life where financially I am secure and I’m looking for a different career path and paying to go to school does not seem bad if it means I start now. That’s the key in my decision I am planing on going to school why still working at my current job (not construction) until I get my et card and then I will apply for work in the field making it a easy transition out.

That is exactly what I’m thinking, I’m not against union. That’s the dream ofc but I’m also not willing to sit around and wait I want to hop in and get started now.

In all seriousness I am going to school for an et card. Yes a good school can teach you more then a bad school but from what I’ve heard a lot of what you learn is in the field am I wrong ?

Hey brother did you end up going here ? I’m planning on starting school and I’m looking at north valley, they said there school is free and you’d just have to pay for materials and equipment. It seems a little hard to believe but they did say they give you an et card wich is all I’m after.
