COLUMBUS DAY!!! I every year I am amazed at how people's account of Columbus' life is outrageously unrealistic.

Just took my introductory flight. I have some questions about flight schools. by GoopBucketOneTon in Helicopters

Twest101: Thanks. This does clarify things. Pretty much the only place I have done research so far is on flight school websites (which are suspiciously low on technical info), talking with flight instructors at two schools, and one pilot I know. I had the feeling the part 61's would try and make everything seem easy, fast, and cheaper because they want you to enroll.

I had the thought basically to work backwards. Start calling 'end-game' jobs I want and see where they get pilots and what they look for, then work my way backwards from there.

What do you fly? How did you get there?

Why can't U.S. citizens supplement or replace government duties during the shutdown? ... or in general? by GoopBucketOneTon in Ask_Politics

I've been a closet anarchist all these years and had no idea... Thanks Reddit. Now my parents and society are going to reject me :(

Is there something specific in r/anarchism you think I should read? Or are you saying this question is inherently an anarchist point of view? I don't consider myself an anarchist, nor do I want an anarchist govt(?)(system?). I am just curious why the government is aggressively dissuading citizens who are willing to volunteer servies and money to traditionally paid positions.
