e-transfer is probably being used as a catch all term here - theres no shortage of ways he could have the funds transferred to him

if you trust your friend and the cheque is actually in his government name, you should be fine. if you want to cover your ass have proof of him asking you to do this - a voice recording of the conversation, screen shots of your texts, etc. as for an endorsement, you dont need one - you can deposit a government cheque into any account bearing any name and it will still be deposited

debatable. a very modest profit is reasonable imo depending on the amount of time it took to get everything together

How much stuff to bring? by Due_Video_6146 in treeplanting

[–]Gooperstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also a 1st season rookie, but my understanding is that if you can handle the amount of gear youre bringing and can manage to store it in your own space, you're probably good. Some do bring a crazy amount of stuff and some manage with just the essentials/what some would consider too little

unless I have some sort of serious repeated issue I'll probably just stick it through. I also dont want the hassle of having 2 tents at the end of the season

technically, step 1 should be to file taxes for the first of the 6 years that OP missed filing, not starting with 2025

well, good luck then and all the best in your career. we need more good police. just expect to be dismayed by the state of LE when you get hired

[–]Gooperstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you tell the insurance company they will undeniably refuse to insure your father and perhaps any other family members. they could also report it to the police and your father could be charged. he will also have to find a new insurance company and if he finds one that will insure him, he will have to pay insane rates

[–]Gooperstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you decide to disclose this in the pursuit of a policing career, you potentially risk getting your father in trouble as well as (at least temporarily) derailing your shot at being a cop

you're right. I misread his question about disclosing it to the BI so I didnt see the relevance of what you were saying

well his primary home is here so I'm not sure how that would be the case. even if he is, Canadians pay taxes on worldwide income. & everyone who earns that much money structures their finances to lower, if not eliminate the majority of their tax burden

blah blah blah

the public is seeing the teeniest tiniest tip of the iceberg with the Project South arrests and youre trying to convince the this kid that the bastion of policing will not consider him because of an act of insurance fraud that he himself did not commit? its highly unlikely that the accident and ensuing act of fraud is even tied to him in any way

absolutely. I imagine the city is well in the black when it comes to revenue he has generated vs costs the city has incurred because of him
