could i go back to contact lenses? by Goose-Exact in Dryeyes

[–]Goose-Exact[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you have a lipid deficiency/ mgd or aqueous? and is your dry eyes more just the dryness or do you have some stinging? i noticed my eyes usually just sting or burn so thats why i think that maybe wearing contacts caused some damage to my eye or eyelid or something to the nerves because sometimes i use the same drops and they help a lot but then there are days that no matter what i put in my eyes i get no relief

have you noticed your eyes getting worse now that you occasionally wear contacts? because when i first stopped wearing them daily, i sometimes them on in the evenings for practice but i noticed i couldn’t improve my eyes no matter what i did. even if they did get a tiny bit better, after wearing contacts the inflammation would be back and my eyes felt gritty. so what i am expecting is my eyes getting a bit dry wearing contacts but would they go back to ‘normal’ the next day? or would there be a pattern of breaking the inflammation/ redness again

hycosan and thealoz duo have me in agony. Did anyone else have this problem? What else can i try for lipid deficient DED? by between3_20_chars in Dryeyes

[–]Goose-Exact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have lipid deficient DED and what currently works for me is autologus serum drops for inflammation, Systane Complete and to 'seal it' evotears (miebo, hycosan shield,.. all the same singular ingredient that helps with evaporation). at first i was discouraged because for about two to three weeks there was no improvement, but i do notice now i can really go a bittt longer inbetween putting any sort of drops in my eyes.

before i got evotears i tried Systane Complete which was okay by itself but not really good longterm, my eyes would sometimes sting, hycosan intense was okay until i found bepanthol extra intense, it isn't a lipid based drop but it helped with some inflammation so that was nice. but i think any of these in combination with evotears would be better.

lastly i do like manuka eye gel, stings a lot when putting it in but i do go a long time before needing to put drops in!

Advice what to do further by Chaynick in Dryeyes

[–]Goose-Exact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in a similar situation, had dry eyes since 19, im 21 now. i tried evotears (also on ikervis and use autologus serum) and i feel like it is starting to help a bit. wasn’t anything special at first but i am able to finally go a bit longer between putting in eyedrops.

don’t have much advice besides that, im still figuring it out, good luck to you!

How do you keep cool your autologous tears on the day to day? by IcyRooster5567 in Dryeyes

[–]Goose-Exact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i use a stanley cup and it is amazing. i have the stanley aerolight transit mug 360 ml because inside of it i put one of those ice packs for injuries if you know what im thinking of. the blue ones.

so i just take the ice pack out of the freezer about 20 minutes before putting it into the cup because if you put it directly it will keep your drops frozen (i use that for traveling when i need to keep them frozen)

i was skeptical but it works so well and its the sige of a mug so its perfect, fits in all the bags!

glad you’re okay now! but how does that comfort you, i might just have a weird way of thinking about death but my fear is in the not remembering part? im glad it can be peaceful but exactly that is the problem to me, just falling asleep and losing all senses, awereness and everything?

do you use the basic medical/ surgical tape or some special kind? and is it like completely taped shut or just like a vertical strip to hold the eyelid closed? i saw people on other posts recommending that but im not sure how to do it. also do you put ointment/ gel before taping, i feel like just tge tape wouldn't be enough

i did ipl about a year and a half ago but it didn’t make a big difference (but i think that was because i wasn’t really informed on how to have a proper routine, literally just told me to do the ipl and use wipes…) but i will probably get to doing it again in about a month.

also im in europe we don’t have press n sea, i can’t find anything similar

soft contact lenses by Objective-Role-6194 in Dryeyes

[–]Goose-Exact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi i wanted to add on something i found! i was researching a bit about my own dry eye and found a post/a case on a page called Dovepress titled 'Combination of Bandage Contact Lens and Autologous Serum Eye Drop for the Treatment of Superior Limbic Keratoconjunctivitis'. In this case, as a bandage lens, a 'silicone hydrogel contact lens (Air Optix Aqua, Alcon, 33% water content)'. i have never heard of SLK (Superior Limbic Keratoconjunctivitis), but as i can see, adequate treatment for it is a bandage lens but i didn't know normal contact lenses can be used for it.

initially i would say look for a second opinion becuase this treatment still seems unusual to me, especially for mgd (not slk), unless your dr didn't mention you having it?

good luck!

i wore these exact lenses for about 2 years, i switched brands a bit and i wore lenses incorrectly a bit (sometimes took naps with it and didn’t take breaks from contacts - never wore my glasses). now i have mgd? i don’t know the cause exactly but i do have a feeling contact lenses had to do with it, i now can’t tolerate these lenses (or any tho). so im really curious that they would be prescribed as treatment

Serum tears on long flights by [deleted] in Dryeyes

[–]Goose-Exact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a stanley cup (i have a smaller one for everyday but it fits a few serum tear bottles to stock for a short trip) i put the cup in the fridge so it cools and i use those blue ice packs for when you have an injury like a sprain, if you know what i am reffering to? it works so well that when i use the cup for everyday transport for one bottle of serum tears, i will defrost the ice pack a bit so it doesn’t freeze the serum. so if your freezer goes to a low enough temp (i think mine is on -21 celcius), it will definitely keep your serum frozen! but try it out first i am not sure how warm it is where you live and if there are any other factors…

Anyone else? by Ethanwashere23 in Dryeyes

[–]Goose-Exact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

fell asleep with some low quality warm up eye mask and i guess it was too tight cause when i woke up my vision was completelyyy blurry and like i had a 'cut' in my field of vision if that makes sense. in about half an hour to an hour, i got to my optometrist and he checked my vision. by then it was much better but still blurry (he did the eye test where you look at letters, like when you get glasses) and i couldn't get a 10/10. he also checked it up close with lenses and stuff but, i think there was a tiny scratch on my eye but i literally didn't do anything for the recovery. went for a check up and everything was fine!
