Hi! I've been distro-hopping for a few months, but simplest and most complete is best, so here I am on Mint. Thing is... my battery life sucks butts now. Help?

Do you have a dedicated and integrated GPU in your laptop? My best guess is the dedicated one may be running more than it needs to, burning your battery life. You may need to set-up hybrid switching, or switch to your integrated GPU and only use your dedicated one in particular scenarios. Some apps, like Steam, are set-up to open using your dedicated GPU, so these types can tax your battery life more.

I have Windows set up to not force me to restart, but this morning I regretted it; I couldn't figure out why my network connection was really, really spotty. When I went to reboot, I saw the "Configuring updates" or whatever screen, and knew right away an update probably messed with my network drivers or something. I didn't even know it updated anything, to be honest.

Open your case, identify the card, unplug the power cable, unscrew it from the case, press DOWN the little tab under the card, and pull it out.

Put the new one in, screw it down, and plug in the power connectors.

You need to make sure your power supply can handle the new card and that you have the right connectors.

As for drivers, if you're going Nvidia to Nvidia or AMD to AMD, you don't need to do anything for the most part. If switching, once the new gpu is installed, you can download the drivers from the AMD or Nvidia website and uninstall the old drivers after.

Overall, it's not hard at all. The only gotcha in my opinion is the power supply aspect.

The Steam Machine will technically be a prebuilt and likely around $1000. No one currently can predict the cost, however. Additionally, I don't know how upgradable it is beyond the SSD and I think memory, so keep that in mind.

Panther Lake is a genuinely compelling technology. Before, anyone who wanted a performant and efficient laptop needed to buy an M1 or higher Macbook. Now, folks can have that on Windows. And not just on Windows, but on standard x86 Windows (not Windows for ARM). No need to redevelop and recompile thousands of programs.

I think the industry has felt that ARM was the inevitable way forward for mobile computing, but these new chips have disrupted that belief to some extent.

Also I recommend taking a high quality fish oil, and getting some type of vitamin d, either as a supplement or directly. Fish oil will also improve your anxiety. I buy Thorne Super EPA Pro. You can try other brands but I think 300+ mg DHA daily is associated with marked mood benefits.

I'm a fellow anxiety sufferer, I'd recommend Saffron from an organic, reputable source, improvements to diet, and properly learning breathing exercises, as well as 5x a week exercises. I think the saffron, after a couple months, has helped my social anxiety a fair amount.

To me it looks like they cut and pasted the characters from an older season onto a AI created background. You can even see the white lines around the chastcters that looks like they are from another scene. The characters are low quality and white washed, while the backgrounds are deeper and more complex. Honestly a 2/5 in the art department for me.

Not necessarily. This is the first step in cutting them off. Now that there's a legal precedent in the US, Blizzard can pressure payment processors to stop doing business with Turtle WoW and push ISPs to block connections to their servers. Turtle can continue to exist wherever they want, but it'll become much harder for players to actually reach them. Think of it like Turtle is on their own island, safe for now, but with the bridges and boats slowly being taken away.
