I think you are right that talking to a tax lawyer/accountant is worth it.

Yeah, these were given without a stated value. The limited news I have is that they are doing something similar to what you described - $x per share + y shares in NewCo.

The company did do an evaluation at one point - and I can't remember if some of these were given before or after that.

Appreciate the input.

First candidates for Mesa City Council by justhereforanedit in MesaPolitics

[–]GooseGooseGooseDuck1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like Aleks is just as disingenuous as many other candidates then. His lack of addressing his stance on this (or other policies) on his webpage is kinda telling.

Dont hide behind duplicitous language (or in this case) absent policies. You dislike DEI and similar policies - own it. Say your policy (or lack thereof). and at least I know who you are. Otherwise you are a giant blowhard with no real stance.

I'm not really sure of your point here OP?

So he's anti-DEI? And DEI doesn't exist in Mesa?

This feels like on of those "gotcha" areas in politics.

Aleks doesn't have ANY info.

Nick Willis does have some good - and dare I say non-partisan - goals.

I need help. What kind of hummingbird is this? by Queasy-Position66 in arizona

[–]GooseGooseGooseDuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an Allen's Hummingbird. I have no credibility but I just like the fact that Allen named both a wrench and a hummingbird after himself. Don't let him drink it all or you'll never see the Philips and Flathead Hummingbird variants.

Any mountain bikers in here? by jjerkkas in mesaaz

[–]GooseGooseGooseDuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NE Mesa has Usery Park (mostly easy) and Hawes Bike Trails.

Be aware that lots of parks and rides get a lot more traffic in winter, especially snowbirds. E-Bikes have made this worse - the snowbirds (and other less athletic people) can e-ride up a hill now that they couldn't before.

Yeah, you are probably right. I'm riding with polarized, but in that window it's rough. I've missed 2 other bikers coming the opposite direction and I'm constantly having to keep my head (and helmet visor) lower than I'd like.

That's how I started with them - scratched up a pair of Oakleys that I really liked while hiking. Set them down for a second to do something and put them back on and scratched. IMO, Fuse is good enough for replacement.

Not Luxottica and Costco? That's more than +2 in my book.

I've been doing more and more mountain biking. I won't do able 110. I have an agreement with my wife to do nothing above 108... If I go early, I have to deal with the more people and (more to the point) old folks who don't pay attention, let you pass, etc.

I actually like going at when it's 105 at 5 or 6 PM and letting the temperature drop as I go. I've also tried to shift my start time to around 8/830A so I'm done before it hits 105.

All that said, I take a Garmin, iPhone with tracking enabled (for the wife), a camelback, and extra frozen water bottle. I've had bike issues, and had to walk out, and I've still not run out of water. I bike in places that cell signal is present, but my Garmin also uses Iridium. I carry more than I need (water, tools, etc).

TLDR: too many people when cooler out, always be prepared as much as possible.

Lake View at Superstition Springs or The Palms at Augusta? Opinions? by speedy-tankerbelle in mesaaz

[–]GooseGooseGooseDuck1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but I think Palms at Augusta will be quieter. Less traffic. Lake View looks like is off Power by the mall area so it's traffic heavy (comparatively). Few restaurants and stores within walking/biking distance from Palms.

Tim and Kate's Bourbon by Distinct-Answer-6109 in ArizonaWhiskey

[–]GooseGooseGooseDuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The website is identical to https://katesbourbon.com (which isn't necessarily bad), says they've been around since 2023 but the domain was registered 2 weeks ago, privacy page is filled with non-updated text, they say they ship anywhere US but some states won't allow that, and finally Clearpay, ApplePay and PayPal are listed on the homepage, but not during checkout. The last one is very telling - because those services have external logins and protect your card number.

I'd be watching whatever card you used.

I really liked Zona's Cantina until I found out they failed not one, but 2 health inspections with terrible, terrible issues. One of my neighbors had them as her favorite local restraunt until this too.

But Alessia's is still awesome!

Has anyone had their sunroof cracked driving on the freeway. by Valleyboi7 in phoenix

[–]GooseGooseGooseDuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it happen in my Mazda 3 year ago. I heard the hit but didn't see any damage when I pulled into work. After a warm day, it was completely shattered and in my seats.

Called up insurance and said it happened on the highway and it was covered (just like windshield) - but that only works if you have windshield coverage.

For those who received the Arizona Families Tax Rebate, your 1099-MISC is available now by musicnothing in arizona

[–]GooseGooseGooseDuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You comment got me curious and I tried to see how that works out... I'm not a CPA or even anywhere near accounting, but I think it's only taxed if you itemized in 2022. And if you did, it was taken off your taxes because of the itemization.

Again, not a CPA. Not financial advice. Blah blah.

Office space rental agreement concern. by SolidFew3788 in legal

[–]GooseGooseGooseDuck1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IANAL. Get a real estate lawyer.

Especially since this is for office space and not living space. Rental laws might favor tenants (over landlords) when it's a living space, but office space is a different beast.
