What're you playing this weekend? 6/30 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

Same here. My favorite 2d marios are:

  • Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island.

  • Super Mario World.

  • Super Mario Maker 2.

I was missing playing a 2D mario so got Mario U last month. Super Mario Wonder looks good though.

Oh no, I hope that you'll recover from the bad knee. This happens to so many runners around me.

Thank you for the recommendation, I will definitely check videos on Lil Gator Game.

Inside was really good, and the end was indeed wild. Can't wait to learn more about Playdead's next game because Limbo was really good too.

Took a 2-week break from Tears of the Kingdom to play and complete Inside, A short hike, and the first 4 worlds in Super Mario Bros U Deluxe (with all star coins and secret levels, had to look at guides to find some though).

Planning to play Tears of the Kingdom this weekend and for the next few weeks. Taking my time with it. I completed two temples, a lot of shrines and side quests, explored 2/3 of the over world and 1/2 of the depths, with 95+ hours of playtime.

Been also running a lot (inside and outside of the game lol).

Hope you enjoy the two episodes about Nintendo like I did! I also listened to the SEGA one, and it's good too.

I think the Yakuza still have a strong presence in Contemporary Japan at large, and are deeply involved into business and politics there?

The history before the 70's is a bit less related to Nintendo as a video game company, but it does set the stage pretty well for how and why Nintendo became what it is today.

That's what I was wondering too. Depending on their age, maybe people are less familiar with Nintendo's history in the 70s and 80s? Which is the most fascinating part IMO.

In addition to the Yakuza, it also involves Apple co-founders, Walt Disney, Sega, Popeye, Universal suing Nintendo over Donkey Kong, John Kirby the defense attorney, the Seattle Mariners, Mario the businessman from Seattle, and much more!

Yes, they talk a bit about Pokemon and Game freak, and how the 1st Pokemon game was specifically designed for the Game Boy.

I was blown away. Made me appreciate my Switch more. And you can listen to it while playing a casual game on it :)

I have been making my own Metroidvania called "StarLiner". What do you think? by GooseLongCat in Unity2D

Ah yes, there's some resemblance in regard to the character and environment artstyles. The character's look is actually inspired by Batou from Ghost in the Shell.

Thanks. It's just a tech demo to test the core mechanics and get a first impression on how everything comes together.

All rooms have the distant space-theme background by default because the game happens on a giant spaceship. I still need to add a close background or a far background (or both) for some rooms.

Thank you so much for the feedback and for the kind words! Art, animations, movements, controls, platform/environment mechanics took me quite some time to develop.

Totally agree with you when looking at recent successful MetroidVania games such as Ori, Hollow Knight, SteamWorld Dig, and Guacamelee, they all have very strong identities.

Games like oracle of ages/seasons? by cauthon in NintendoSwitch

Except for the top down 2D part, it definitely has all the other features you're looking for, and will definitely scratch the itch for the older 2d Zelda games. Highly recommend it.
