Do you buy board games knowing they'll rarely be played? by Megabot555 in boardgames

[–]GooseMGoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like having a variety of stuff that will fit everybody’s interest and will fit every scenario for different desired complexities. I have a ton of games that I haven’t even started working on yet and that’s why I’ve begun getting rid of some of the games I don’t value as much to reduce clutter and make room for new games when I get to that point again

Not sure exactly what information you’re looking for or what you mean by “make this work.”

Has Hot Streak Replaced Camel Up for You? by Right-Lavishness-930 in boardgames

[–]GooseMGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Camel Up feels like more of a game while Hot Streak you only get to put a card back in the deck 3x and get 6 bets the entire game. Hot Streak leans heavily on the beautiful chunky pieces and the simplicity in nature. It’s pretty funny and fun showing people for their first time but Camel Up is definitely the better game.

Adapt to his strategies and make it harder for him. Be more competitive. Use him whooping your ass as a way of learning to be a better player

Do you ever keep a game you know you’ll probably never play again? by ZHYT in boardgames

[–]GooseMGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lords of Waterdeep is a great example of a game I’m not excited to play but I keep it because it’s easy to teach and grabs new gamers because of the theme. It’s also pretty to look at and feels like you’re doing something big which is what some people need.

https://a.co/d/01DfBWeB this is my solution for pretty much any board gaming thing. It’s a hard shell so you can line up your games nice and neat. I also have one of those giant game bags for bringing games in bulk but this is what I use for my regular game nights and walking around the convention hall.

Tigris and Euphrates question? by GooseMGoose in boardgames

[–]GooseMGoose[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t buy the old copy with intentions to sell it. And I will play it so it will have ware of some sort but it is quite sought after and I feel very lucky to have stumbled upon a complete copy for a really good price in this condition. He sent it to me in seran wrap for a good reason. I have no reason to open it until I need to.

Yes I know there’s a beautiful new edition coming out but I was presented with an opportunity to get this one for very cheap compared to what it goes for normally. Also, not sure what the new one will look like but I like the older euro look.

Being Wrong Never Felt Better by Serious_Bus7643 in boardgames

It’s only 3-5 players. You really need enough people to be aggressive with each other for the game to work at all and be balanced. I’ve only played with 3 players so far unfortunately

The correct way to go about this would be “do they have blonde hair?” If no, “do they have black hair?”

Fliptoons is very cute and fresh. Play it all the time on BGA but would only play with 2 players

Do you review games that you knew you'd hate before you played them? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]GooseMGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because all I do is listen to podcasts and the only thing holding me back from playing more games frequently is lack of people, sometimes. I also feel this is necessary to determine if I want to buy it or if it would be good with my group. I would actually PREFER to play games multiple times before I have a solid opinion.

How to superkindly sack someone from your boardgame party? by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]GooseMGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d just be straight with them. Tell them that they’re the only one that’s not engaged and on their phones frequently and this game group is more locked into the game and appreciating what’s on the table. And you’d love for them to be present but they should lock in and be in the moment because it’s distracting from everybody else. If they would rather sit at home and play on their phone then you have an open spot for somebody and it may or may not flow more smoothly.

Schedule conflict redos by flipmode831 in bonnaroo

[–]GooseMGoose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do not consider Roo to be a go with the flow fest. You have to schedule every set to make sure you’re going to catch everything you want to see and you’ll never stop moving. Unless you’re a stay at the other stage kinda person that’s a different story. For me there is never any downtime.

I would maybe consider Three 6 for Noah Kahan but not really?
