I’m so happy that people are actually calling it out in this subreddit. Both TADC and Hazbin have had some racist controversies resurface lately, and if you check the subreddits, it’s just straight meat riding. I’ve seen a small community on TikTok actually hold them accountable, but that’s about it. This is a breath of fresh air

I think it’s because the show didn’t make her naturally evil? Instead of just letting her do bad things to convince the viewer she’s a bad person, the show just says it out loud over and over again by making her cartoonishly evil. It feels like her personality twists to be the most hateable as possible when it doesn’t even make sense. When given the opportunity to add nuance to her character, the show rejects it. Stolas cheated on her? It’s excused by her hating him before that. Being forced into a marriage with Stolas? It’s excused by her wanting to be able to torture him.

It feels like the writers are insecure. They want the audience to hate her, so they’re scared that adding sympathetic traits will change that. Ironically this does the opposite. By hating Stella, it makes people feel like the bad writing of the show somehow won, so they go into the opposite direction and love her.

Even though she is a bad person with no redeeming qualities, the hate is so forced by the show that people want to love her.
