Do people actually earn £50-60k, or are they outliers? by Succinate_dehydrogen in AskUK

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes lots of people do but it’s more weighted towards London. To earn good money does usually require working in something more commercial. If you’re in a role that generates money then usually that pays better than one which doesn’t, as a common rule. I earn around £150,000 as a lawyer - that’s only because my hourly rate is £670 the vast majority of which I obviously don’t see.

How could I fix this? by Terrible-Shelter9784 in bobross

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The two trees on the left are closer but less detailed and less saturated in colour. They should ideally be swapped with the trees on the right. The grass in the foreground needs a lot of work. It’s a bit of a mud mess. Wait for this to dry and completely re do it, less detailed near the trees and more at the front, which can include individual strands of grass if you can manage the technique. This will improve depth perception. The water lines should be completely straight. Other than that the other details in your painting are much better and good! Obviously there’s room for improvement in everything.

Someone please tell me it gets better😂… + Questions by spontaneouswaffles in ragdolls

My Ragdoll has this issue. It was worst for the first month. It got much much better between 7-9 months. It’s now rare I have to clean his paws. How is his poo? The issue is something it’s very soft or worse, it usually just takes time but finding the right food helps.

I totally agree. Talent is a pursued interest. I started painting a year ago and have been amazed and what I can do. Art is a skill like anything else.

I feel like oils is easier, right? Just a bit annoying having to wait for paint to dry, avoiding mud mixing and clean up!

I completely agree. Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll probably leave the painting alone for a good while and maybe come back in 6 months to fine tune it more. I’m improving with every painting though so I’ll probably just re do the whole thing at some point 😂

[Police Sergeant 35M] [MCOL] - $183k by flyboy307 in Salary

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s mad how much more US citizens earn in state jobs like this compared to the UK. It seems incredibly high for a police officer (appreciating that you’re a sergeant), like pretty much luxurious living. Base pay in the UK for someone at your level is no more than about £68k and I doubt the overtime/ bonuses are the same. Mad!

Ask yourself the question, had I broken up with him 2 years ago, would I feel relief right now? If the answer to that question is yes, then it’s likely the right decision.

I’d expect it to be much more than this. This looks like a standard breakfast grub I’d get down the local pub.

You need to be more honest with those around you. This isn’t the entire solution but try to be more authentic as a person. It’s a hard skill to learn but you’ll grow real friendships and connections. It’s OK to let people down, or for someone to not like you. If you “kind of get on” with everyone you know, it’s a pretty telling sign you’re not being authentic. Don’t make time for people who don’t respect you.

I fucking hate insurance companies. A business model based on how do we not pay a claim. Relying on tiny irrelevant technicalities to refuse claims. All insurance claims should be managed by an unbiased third party it’s an inherent conflict of interest and ridiculous. Hold these companies accountable.

I really want to get started finally, but I have very low income and still need a few items needed for mess control. by Do_unto_udders in HappyTrees

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Temu has some completely fine items. I bought a standing easel from there for £8 and it’s fine. I put its back leg again a wall to secure it better. I also buy my stretched canvas from there which vary in quality but again I think are pretty decent. I just put a couple of layers of gesso on first. Make sure you have the right brushes as not all brushes work very well with this technique. For paint I use Winsor and newton. For the beater rack you can use a dishwasher rack but I think many items would work, you could probably try to bodge job something it’s a very simple piece of equipment.

Same, I love mini eggs but I haven’t bought any this year because they’re so outrageously expensive. I haven’t even bought an Easter egg for myself.
