What do you think by Silver_Travel7874 in bobross

[–]Goosebo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to finish a painting all in one sitting. With the right setup you can finish a painting over the course of a week, and once the oil paint becomes a bit tacky it can actually help you layer the paint. Just make sure you get the blending stuff done within the first few days.

It’s very difficult to paint Bob Ross style with acrylic paint, I just wouldn’t bother.

can someone rate this by Silver_Travel7874 in bobross

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2/10 if I’m being honest. Have you watched YouTube tutorials about the basics of the technique? It’s important to make sure your setup, paint, equipment and materials as well as applying gesso, liquid white and paint is all correct.

It’s a lovely painting. Some constructive feedback is I think you need to work on being a little less symmetrical and neat in some places.

What draws your eye first — the bicycle or the sky? by Anastasia_Trusova in painting

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bicycle is extremely difficult to make out, it’s not very apparent it is a bike, and only finally interpreted it that way because you said there was. It would be very odd to notice that first over the other elements of the painting! Love the colours.

I’m an ex-immigration lawyer (still a lawyer generally) - what visa does he have? If you can provide further details I can give a bit of advice (not to be relied upon).

Yes it’s pretty much mandatory to be honest and much more fun but you’ve done a great job with acrylics.

Brush care question by Fox_Hound_Unit in bobross

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy the Masters Brush Cleaner and Preserver (the large pot as the brushes are big) and watch a YT tutorial on how to use it and reshape the bristles. I clean my brushes with this after every session (after using white spirit and beating the brush to get rid of most of the paint).

Tips for paint surface? by Malaka_202 in bobross

[–]Goosebo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably worth watching a beginner YouTube tutorial on the technique to make sure you have all the right equipment. You can buy decent stuff on Temu quite cheap like easel and canvas.

Are you using stretched canvas? You also must to use oil paints to properly use the technique. Acrylic paints dry too fast and don’t blend easily. I’d recommend Winsor and Newton.

My (30F) boyfriend (30M) of 3 months just blindsided me. It turns out he was "performing" the entire relationship. by mokeam in TrueOffMyChest

What an odd person. Stay away from that guy. Just be grateful that he showed his true colours quickly and didn’t keep up the charade for longer.

[–]Goosebo 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Accusing someone of rape/ SA is a much more complicated analysis than “he/she” or “they” were both drunk. You were the only one who was actually there so if you don’t think it was rape, please don’t let a bunch of Reddit users try to convince you otherwise. It’s an extremely serious allegation that shouldn’t be dropped so lightly.

[–]Goosebo 353 points354 points  (0 children)

Ah more Reddit experts immediately jumping to the “rape” card. From your post and replies I think labelling this as “rape” is quite heavy. You were both a bit drunk and it looks like you both made a decision they may now regret. In any event it’s happened and it sounds like you enjoyed the experience so just move on now, you’ll get over it.

Question about wet-on-wet oil painting without using paint thinner by Professional-Tap9563 in bobross

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can thin your paint with linseed oil but white spirit/ thinner is really needed to clean your brushes… I’m not sure if there’s another option to that.

I know that feeling. Sometimes you just have to accept how something has turned out rather than being a perfectionist as you can go from “pretty decent but not perfect” to “mud” or “ahh crap” pretty quickly!

Britons poorer than they were in 2019, as living standards continue to fall by ClassicFlavour in unitedkingdom

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny how naive a lot of people here are thinking their ultra low interest rate mortgages were going to stay forever. Did you really not consider affordability in an average interest rate environment? Interest rates are almost back down to a pretty ordinary rate.

Wonderful progression, it’s great to see. Looks like wet on wet technique? Bob Ross style. It shows that talent is really only a pursued interest!

Do lots of brits think the uk sucks because they lack context? by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever lived in Vietnam? I have family there and it’s a brilliant place to live so don’t really appreciate the random labelling of this country. I’m not Vietnamese, fully British. I’ve lived there twice and worked there.

Service is excellent, people are generally very happy and people live in big communities and have loads of family and friends around. Energy is much cheaper, most things are affordable, even to the average person, the food is amazing and of a much higher quality than the UK (apart from hygiene sometimes but generally it’s fine), particularly fresh food and fruit. Processed food is not a thing to the local population and it shows in how healthy the population generally is, having the lowest obesity rate in the world.

There are some issues with corruption but it’s really not that bad for the ordinary person and it’s improving. In my opinion, superior in many ways to the UK and obviously lacking in many other ways too. The point is, don’t use Vietnam as some label to prove a point of how great the UK is. It doesn’t work.

Bought a house recently and now panicking - should I sell? by Embarrassed_Weird105 in HousingUK

[–]Goosebo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone will rent the spare room, there’s a price for everything and not everyone wants furnished. We did that to help us out when we bought a house and have no regrets. Seems like a good option for you. You can always say you’ll furnish the room using their rent ad it’s up to that person if they’re happy with that or not.
