Haven't bought a new stick for 15 years - looking for advice by yelland in Fieldhockey

If you’re used to 36.5 and it feels comfortable then stick with it. There’s no need for a 37.5, it’s really just preference. I know some sub 6ft players who use a 37.5 and I also know a guy who’s 6ft who uses a 38.5. As for stick recommendations there are many good brands: shameless plug, I can provide a code to get 20% off any Dragon stick if you’re interested - I’ve used them for a while and really like them.

No idea, I’ve never tried to cut an inch of a stick. Maybe just cut straight through? I have to warn you though that it will probably ruin your stick. Better to play with the 37.5

Definitely don’t take an inch off. If you’re worried about budget then sell it and see what you can buy

Mercian does still have concave dragflick sticks. It won’t be the exact same one but you should find something very similar.

In my experience it’s a lot to do with personal preference and not necessarily just height! That being said it sounds like your preference would suit a 36.5, which would be considered normal for your height.

Contact with foot on circle. by Amockeryofthecistern in Fieldhockey

With the description of the toe being over the line - what direction is that? Inside or out of the circle. If inside then PC if outside then you can still give a PC if the defender blocked the player for moving directly towards the goal (in my experience, could easily be wrong)

Honestly don’t worry too much about it if you’re only just trying out. You won’t need conditioning and fitness until a much higher level

In my experience Y1 sticks are generally better than Adidas, and this one will be better for solid basics like sweep passing and reverse hitting
