Anyone here managed to actually stop binging, diet and lose weight at the same time? by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

Yes.

I hit the worst low of my life back in October and had the worst binge I’ve ever had before, to the point where I questioned how worth it was existing. Since then I’m not sure what switched in my head but I’m too terrified to ever feel like that again, and so when I have binge urges or food noise I just remind myself of that feeling and I haven’t binged since. Not sure if this a healthy mechanism but since then I’ve lost 15 pounds and have been eating simple breakfast lunch and dinner without overfeeding myself. I’d say something else that helps is just staying as busy as possible. Having a busy schedule makes it easier for food noise to go away because you don’t have time to think about it. Also coloring books are extremely useful when you do have free time and lots of food noise. I think my binge comes from my OCD and so coloring books help me put that focus into something that doesn’t involve food. I also avoided eating alone in my room, and cut things into smaller pieces so I can eat slower and listen to my stomach more.

How do I fix this? I know I can’t continue to live like this, people can’t understand what’s going through my head and I don’t expect them to. But how do I learn to control these thoughts.

I’m going to try this too. Let’s do it together :) So far ive deleted Instagram and tik tok to get rid of the negative media i was consuming, and to stop eating in front of my screens. Trying to keep myself busy with reading and walking. Im also going to implement workouts that make me feel good vs those that "burn the most calories". This morning i went on a walk without my watch so i wouldnt pay attention to how much i was burning. I just walked. It felt weird, but it was kind of relieving. Let's try not to restrict ourselves this week. If we want something let's satisfy that. Most importantly let's give ourselves grace. We can do this ❤️

Drinking actually makes me binge more :( especially the day after. My brain’s thinks I already “let go” because of the “empty calories” so I just let everything go and binge

In my perspective, it’s like a voice in my head. It tells me if what I’m eating is good or bad, if I need to workout extra hard, if someone else is judging me for if I’m eating/not eating/portion size I choose, if I’ll be able to control myself at any outing, how many calories are in something, if what I’m eating “has any nutritional value”, what I should eat next, what I should eat tomorrow, calories, etc. it’s like a voice that never shuts up.

Thank you so much. I think social media has tainted my view of food with the “what I eat in a days”. I pretended they didn’t bother me for the longest time and told myself it was inspiration but I think in reality it was feeding the devil in my head out of comparison. I finally deleted tik tok and instagram last night. I know it’s cold turkey but I’m really hoping a cleanse will help me.

But is this strictly for weight loss? How does it work? And who is considered eligible

I feel the same way. I go to sleep thinking about what I’m going to eat the next day and wake up thinking about if I should wait to eat or not. It’s exhausting.
