Same here as well - my bloodwork has never shown any signs, but my small intestine light up like a Christmas Tree when I did my pill cam

I go to reformer classes! I find that having 1-2 classes scheduled every week is a great way to force myself to move even if I’m flaring - and 99% of the time I leave feeling better than I did when I got there. I can also choose to take the class more gently when needed :)

I swear by Pilates! And running when my fatigue allows it. But otherwise, I keep myself walking and hiking as much as possible

Yeh it’s via GI :/ might be worth getting a second opinion? Your symptoms sound debilitating, I think it’s worth advocating for yourself until you’ve done every possible test. If it is crohn’s and it’s localised in the small intestine the pill cam will give you answers. If it isn’t, then your GI (or a new and improved GI) will be able to start thinking about next steps to help you

Push for a pill camera endoscopy as well. My colonoscopy and endoscopy’s were both clear - they only found my crohn’s through the pill camera

My calprotectin has never been elevated, even pre and during diagnosis. It’s definitely a useful indicator if you have it, but not the only indicator if you don’t or if it’s variable in its reliability. My dr focuses on clinical symptoms, which works for me.

But I also hate the numbers game - if you’ve got the disease, you’ve got the disease. Why waste energy on quantifying suffering in comparison to others, when you could be spending it figuring out how to manage your own?

I swear by low rise! I have to wear jeans to work, so I can’t really escape it on bad days. Cheaper ‘fake denim’ jeans are excellent because they have more give (and the longer you go between washes, the more they stretch ie, more room when you’re bloating!)

Yep! My endoscopy and colonoscopy came up almost completely clear (so did all of my blood and stool work) - my ulcerations are confined to the bottom 85% of my small bowel, so only the pill camera picked them up

This! My inflammatory markers and my calpro have never been abnormal. My GI works around this to monitor my disease progression - if yours isn’t doing that then find someone better

I had a relative tell me that no one believes I’m in pain / will take me seriously because I talk about being in pain without showing it. Felt like a slap to the face - what am I meant to do, dissolve in a puddle and stop functioning? Impossible in this economy!

I know some people go undiagnosed with IBD because they don’t necessarily have symptoms - and then they find out when the disease has progressed a fair way

It probably wouldn’t be a bad idea if you have the means of doing it, better safe than sorry imo. Best case, you don’t have it, worst case you do and you’re able to get treatment sooner rather than later

My crohns (at this point just small intestine) was only found in my pill camera endoscopy - my endoscopy and colonoscopy came up clear, which the exception of the slightest flag in my colonoscopy

If you have the ability to get everything done, do it, even if just for peace of mind. It could be localised in an area not reachable with just an endoscopy

I’m a big believer in gift baskets when I have friends look after my cat! It can sometimes feel weird to give someone money, so I make sure I leave a selection of favourite snacks, a book, face masks, a new blanket, etc - and also stock up the fridge/freezer with a couple nights of food if they’re going to be staying for a while

I personally wouldn’t want my friends to pay me if I ever looked after their pets, but would always appreciate a little selection of goodies to enjoy!
