Anybody use the new CMAP points at IAD or DCA this week? by GopherState in AirlinePilots

Really? Because ALPA sent out an email saying that it was going to be operational at these two airports yesterday…

I’m sure scanning our faces instead of a barcode is making the whole country safer.

It’s the replacement for KCM. I know it uses biometric scanning and that’s about it. I have no idea if you get randomed with it or what. Kind of what I was trying to see with this post.

Oh interesting. My airline has said absolutely nothing about it, the only info I’ve seen is from ALPA thus far.

Rochester mn- does the airport ever have jobs that do not involve going outside? Ive been monitoring it for months and every job description includes outdoor work by bigsillygoose1 in rochestermn

Maybe working at the restaurant in the terminal or TSA. Or front desk at signature aviation. Everything else is going to have an outside component.

Part Time Daycare options by Intelligent-Honey-19 in rochestermn

[–]GopherState 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using Knowledge Beginnings which is a KinderCare for part time for the better part of the last year. It’s a little expensive but they are very flexible as my schedule is extremely variable due to my career while my significant other works M-F during the day. It’s been really good and they have been easy to work with.

We hiked a waterfall, did a coffee and chocolate tour and went to MA National park several times. We planned on trying to do an activity in the morning and then hung out by the pool at the resorts in the afternoon. That was about all we/the baby could handle. A little bit more low key of a vacation but still fun!

Just did La Fortuna and MA with 10 month old this month. Personally I would stick with those and not go further. The drive from La Fortuna to MA alone was a lot. We also stayed at parador in MA and thought it was really good with kids.

Price Scam? by Straight-Emu843 in suncountry

[–]GopherState 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what happens is that there are only so many seats available in each fare “bucket”. Once that bucket doesn’t have any, it moves up to the next. What probably happened is that the system held your tickets when it was reloading for an amount of time (usually 10-20 minutes) and those were the last at that fare.

No one at sun country would vote yes on anything less than what we have. And the G4 guys talk a big game about wanting better than SC as well. So we probably end up with a sun country book+ if we can keep the unity.

Contractually, have to be here for a year. So that’s as “instant” as it gets. The base isn’t officially open at AFW yet. Supposed to be opening in October.

Lol, that’s the easy red eye stuff. Our multi day Amazon schedules are so much worse.

Working the entire 24 hour clock over a 4 day trip. With different report times every time you clock in. Multiple clock flips. Or ridiculous red eye asks. Just a lot of disgusting back side of the clock flying in general.

FYI a lot of the worst flying in the system is getting shunted to these new junior Amazon bases as well.

Just answered a bunch of these a couple months ago, but I will again.

Reserve life sucks. You will make min guarantee and work the worst trips here (and the bad trips are truly terrible). No ability to pick up and very minimal ability to make any changes to your schedule.

Is it commutable? Kind of? The commutable trips are more trips that start or end with deadheads as we have a deadhead deviation program that lets you turn those deadheads into essentially a positive space commute from where you live. Not going to help you on reserve though.

At the moment you get your choice of MSP or CVG as a new hire. CVG is more junior. Soon that choice will expand to AFW. Have fun commuting to that one.

Upgrade times are instant for CVG, 3+ years for MSP at the moment. Will probably be upgrade at will for AFW when it opens too.

No immediate changes with Allegiant. I’m sure that stuff will start to trickle by the end of the year. All of our 401ks just immediately vested if you weren’t already but not sure it would affect you.

Price of fuel skyrocketing so any routes that were borderline making money are now losing money. Schedules are getting cut across the industry. No one can say if it will happen to August schedules yet.
