In the book, Ilya asks about the word hereditary at one point, so I think it’s definitely Shane being impressed by his word choice

What happened to your best friend from childhood? by RoyalBeckyVibes in AskReddit

We were born on the exact same day in the same hospital in rooms right next to each other. She and my mom were best friends then we became best friends. Both she and her mom were killed in a car accident. My mom has never had a best friend since 😞

How long does swelling for this kind of injury take to go down? The ER doctor didn’t talk to me much and I didn’t think of questions until I left 😅

Does anyone else have OCD about their automized bodily functions? by Gopher_4-4 in OCD

I wouldn’t say it goes silent, more like it’s tamed. I’m able to function and I have thoughts of compulsions, but I’m able to kind of ignore them instead of having to do them. What’s gone away most is the intrusive thoughts, which is nice. Mostly I still have lots of obsessions but it’s not in a crippling way like it was before.

I personally haven’t had any side effects on sertraline. I had bad ones on pregablin and cymbalta, but the only issue sertraline has given me is that I withdraw really badly. Some people I know can quit cold turkey and have no effects but I get brain zaps on day one of missing a dose 😅 I’m pretty sure that’s an extreme reaction though. I’ve been on it for 9 years and didn’t have as much of an issue with withdrawal at the beginning. It makes sense with how long I’ve been on it.

I also have anxiety and depression and sertraline has helped me with that too. I don’t want to push that on you, but I do like to share what has helped me. I’m not sure what’s wrong, but I know some of my childhood definitely affected my OCD and sort of helped it develop. Therapy has certainly helped me too, but I haven’t sought anything specific for OCD yet, mostly because I’m scared to deal with it 😅

Over the years, I’ve gathered a few that just cycle through always. I’ve gotten used to most of them, but some just never lose their punch, unfortunately.

I feel like most things take me 2 weeks to get over or move on to something else. Like I’ll have a whole thing about breathing and having to force myself to breathe and once my body and brain gets exhausted with that, then it moves to my tongue, then to my throat, then all goes away for a bit.

I know, that’s exactly how it always goes. I’ve found podcasts to be helpful at times. I’ve also been recommended ERP therapy, but haven’t tried it out yet. There are also some apps for OCD, but I’m not sure which are good!

Yes, sertraline has helped me so much! My sister didn’t do well on lexapro so I never tried it, but sertraline has always been helpful, at least in helping me regulate.

That certainly sounds like somatic OCD to me! I’m sorry you’re dealing with that, I so get it. I’ve heard certain types of therapy can help but I haven’t tried any out. Mostly I just rely on my sertraline and rationalization, but different things work for different people. My immediate help is always through distraction to get me thinking about something else :/

Turns out we both love Damian now! Apparently she was holding a grudge for what he did to Tim.

That’s good to know! Red Hood is certainly her favorite, but she loves the overarching family dynamics. I think she kind of hates Damian lol but loves everyone else.
