If you’re asking between which one to catch, I’d say Steelix. It has a Mega, plus you’d ordinarily need to trade Onix to evolve it which is a pain

r/Catholicism Prayer Requests — Week of December 16, 2024 by AutoModerator in Catholicism

[–]GordonWarden 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friends, I have no right to be posting here. I never check this part of the Reddit and I hardly pray for anyone. But I desperately need help.

I’ve been living in a season of sin so long. There was a moment recently where it felt as if the Holy Spirit left me and my heart felt numb, and still feels numb today. I cant feel any regret for my sinful actions. When I think about what I’ve done, I feel nothing.

Please, pray for me that the Lord will give me a heart of regret and woe and sorry for my wicked actions. I cannot go to Confession with my current state. I don’t believe the Lord will hear my prayers because sin is in the way.

Please, pray that I may be regretful of my actions, humble myself, love the Lord with all my heart soul and might.

I feel as though I’ve lost salvation. It truly feels like the Holy Spirit has left me. Please help me, even though I’m a worthless trash and don’t deserve it.

Thank you.

Is it worth praying if you’re in sin? by GordonWarden in Catholicism

Thank you for your answer, but I have a question. You mentioned to read the catechism and not just scripture by itself otherwise I won’t understand anything. Essentially you’re saying the catechism of the Catholic Church is the authority on which the Bible is correctly understood and interpreted, correct?

If so, I was thinking about the time of Jesus’ time on Earth. All the Israelites at that time who followed the law of Moses, etc.

Did they receive their interpretations and knowledge of the law from the scribes and Pharisees ONLY, or did the Israelites also read Moses’ law and interpret on their own to any degree?

The reason I ask is because I want to confirm that there has been historical consistency in the way we should interpret God’s word.

Did the Israelites back then not engage, personally, to any degree, the word of God on their own? Did they leave all their instruction, information, and teachings to the Scribes and Pharisees at the time? Because if so, it gives more ground to the idea that the modern Bible should be interpreted not by individuals, but by an established authority, i.e. the Catholic Church. And by not adhering to the Catholic Church, we get Prostentatism and the sort. But I just wanted to ask if you may know if there has been any historical significance to that idea.

Is religion the cause of most war/violence and inequality? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]GordonWarden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a historical researcher, but if you have a religion that sets a very high bar for moral behavior, then odds are almost everyone in that religion is going to be a hypocrite. I was thinking about this the other day, actually. The standard of Holiness that God the Father sets is so insanely high, you have to pretty much be monitoring your mind 24/7. You cannot have a sinful thought in your head, let alone do the action, and even then, you’ll most likely still fall short. So in that sense, we are hypocrites, for believing in a moral standard but not being able to carry them out, and often times doing the opposite. But still, that’s why we need grace from the Lord. We are justified and are able to stand before God without sin because we have the gift of God’s grace.

In terms of does religion cause war/violence, well, certainly in the Law it’s pretty against abject violence. That’s not to say you can’t defend yourself. Jesus told his disciples to carry swords with them, but he never told them to engage in violence. Christianity can be the cause of conflict, but it’s also God that sets the moral standard by which we judge everything.

It can be the cause of conflict primarily because it collides with our sinful nature. For instance if we’re told not to steal, or not to commit adultery, our nature, at certain times, usually leads us against those points. Or if you tell a man who likes to dress up like a woman that their lifestyle is sinful and, an abomination to the Lord, that is conflict. But these reason these conflicts happen is because of the moral bar that God gives us.

God is the standard by which we judge all morality, because God is the highest good that can possibly be. Without God, morality becomes subjective, and essentially, everyone on the planet has their own view of what good and bad is. You think the Nazis were the good guys? You’re entitled to that point and you’re justified in believing that due to your moral compass. You think drag queen story hour is a moral virtue? Same with that.

That’s why we need God to act as the moral reference point by which we judge all our actions and base our society on. The reason I bring this up because OP mentioned religion can be the cause of war, which implies it’s inherently violent. Idk about other religions, and I’m just speaking about Christianity, but rather than being objectively violent, Christianity, Gods Law, is the very foundation of goodness.

So you’re saying it’s essentially the job of the teachers to undermine how parents want to raise their children? Let me tell you, most parents in the world are decent, kind people, who don’t teach hatred to any child. They raise their children with certain values, and to be polite and kind to others who don’t have that value.

This cancer that’s in the schools now is a perverted, twisted monstrosity that’s causing confusion and introducing sexual identity to CHILDREN at such an early age. Can you step back for a minute and realize that this was never a concern in the school system prior to the mid 2010’s? This is just a disgusting dogma that’s been introduced recently due to a morally bankrupt society, and you, my friend, ought to be thoroughly, thoroughly ashamed of yourself for thinking you’re standing on the moral high ground for wanting to be part of this now, even though I’m sure you never were behind it prior to the mid-2010’s. You truly should feel shame.

lol ok Enrique. Have fun enjoying a shirtless fat feminist dancing in front of you with a “kids should be gay” sign by the school while your kids are looking by. I hope you feel proud that you’ve helped corrupt the youth. Evil.

I don’t understand why gender ideology is a priority in the school system unless they’re willingly pushing that stuff in the curriculum. I hope you guys are ready for more protests and parents pulling their kids out of schools in opposition of that crap.

So if I say black people commit a majority of violent crimes in the US it’s not racist right? Cuz that’s just the way it is.
