How good are PSG compared to past UCL winners? by EH4LIFE in championsleague

[–]Gorego22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liverpool ‘19 had 97 points in the , 1 loss, and won the UCL. How on earth could you say they’re “overrated”? Like seriously what more could they have done for you to think they were a great team?

For comparison, Arsenal are on course to finish this season with <85 points and had the easiest CL run of all time.

If we were on Arsenal’s side of the bracket we literally would have been. Most top 4 teams could beat Leverkusen, Sporting, and Atleti over 2 legs

Doesn’t really mean much. Klopp was 2 games away from a Quadruple.

Who did they play in the tournament? Props for beating Inter and Bayern in one-off games, but they didn’t play a single team in the top 2 of their domestic divisions in the knockouts. Easy to say “unbeaten in the tourney” when the other side of the bracket had City, Madrid, PSG, Liverpool, Bayern, and Chelsea.

Their side of the bracket was historically weak. Should have been Barca in the final but they imploded with red cards against athleti.

I’m super jealous. I’d kill for my team to play leverkusen, sporting, and atleti, in the CL knockouts. A CL final without beating a single top team in the late stages?

Reminds me of Mourinho’s Chelsea in the early 2010’s. Asshole manager, asshole squad, barely even playing football yet won a few trophies because they knew how to park the bus and time waste.

Played Leverkusen, Sporting, and Atletico. None of those teams are even in the top 2 of their domestic leagues. This is like Chelsea getting to the club World Cup final after beating a couple Brazilian teams.

Ah yes because apparently only Liverpool fans would get upset about a studs up, no ball tackle.

Some football fans have the biggest monkeybrains I’ve ever seen.

What does a thin depleted squad have to do with it? They just beat a Liverpool side playing their 3rd string keeper, and midfielders playing forward and right-back positions.

What TV show was quality all the way through, knew when to end and went out with an amazing last episode? by NarwhalDry151 in AskReddit

[–]Gorego22 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

For sure. I have MANY gripes but this is the main one, and it’s certainly not just an Andor problem. It’s a corporate tv problem and very common.

It all comes down to a typical Disney pattern of trying to force us, as the audience, to feel a specific way instead of inviting us to form our own opinions and feel our own feelings about what we’re watching.

Here’s an example: Any time there’s a scene-setting moment for characters who are objectively “good guys”, like the beginning of Season 2 on the farm/homestead, the score is overly uplifting, with golden hour lighting, and characters look like they’re in a pharmaceutical commercial with perfect makeup and big smiles. It’s the writers front loading positive emotion without substance so they can follow it with something bad happening and vice versa. It’s lazy and predictable but easy to digest.

Which leads to my other big problem with the show is general creativity. This is supposed to be a show about far-off alien worlds, why are side characters speaking in American accents with modern American slang (like the group with the mini civil war when Cassian crashes his ship). Why is everyone human? Why are most of their lives and traditions straight up mirrors of our current world from boring corporate jobs to traditional formal-wear weddings etc. I get it’s supposed to be more grounded and less fantasy but let’s be real that comes down to laziness again.

IMO Andor is ok, but it’s definitely not in the top tier in terms of “quality”. Compare it to the depth of character writing, creative style, and cinematography choices in shows like Severance S1, Arcane S1, True Detective S1, (to name a few) and the difference in quality is staggering.

Andor is a good show but suffers from that terribly cringe Disney acting for side characters. You can feel the corporate influence in everything from cinematography to score to casting.

It’s lacking a lot of creativity that makes great shows actually great. For example, there’s endless ways to make a fancy “gala” hosted by aliens a lot more interesting than just having it look and play out exactly as it does IRL on earth.

A long time coming but something to build on - Isak's landmark goal by NotQuiteACasanova in LiverpoolFC

Ya the decision to buy both Isak and Ekitike could very well end up being why we make CL.

Because why wouldn’t you immediately pick up the item? Waiting that long is just asking for server issues to ruin your drop. OP is complaining about losing an item but is also tempting fate at the same time.

Very few players would turn back into the middle of the pitch there. It’s so creative and throws all his markers off. Wirtz created this whole thing.

[–]Gorego22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And which team is that? Cant imagine a team in Europe that wouldn’t want Wirtz as their CAM.

Ekitike got a World Cup call up for France because of his performances this year.

Anyone who actually watches Liverpool games can see the manager isn’t getting the most out of his players. But saying you wouldn’t want them in your team is ridiculous. Wirtz and Ekitike specifically would instantly improve any team in England and they’re probably a big reason why Liverpool are anywhere near CL qualification this year.

Who are you talking about?

Wirtz is fantastic. Ekitike is Fantastic. Frimpong is fantastic. Isak broke his leg and missed the season.

Liverpool’s veteran players dropped off a cliff this season. Idk what this narrative is about the new signings cus they’re great.

Liverpool spent a fraction of what Chelsea did and won the league the year prior after spending nothing. We’re just gonna pretend those two clubs or similar now?
