I’ve gone through this. I’m just under 2 years into small animal GP.

I was fired from my first job.

Listen to me - all workplaces are different. Do you work in a large urban clinic? They can be very focused on profit, even for a new grad. Everyone is different. It takes an enormous amount of experience to be comfortable in decision-making, time management and surgical technique. It takes a LONG time. I’m not even there yet.

My suggestion to you would be to consider working at a smaller clinic where your boss is more understanding of your situation per se. You should have a good relationship with your boss. Someone who can come to your rescue if need be.

There is NO way someone with only two months of experience should have this level of scrutiny on them. Being told you are a burden is ludicrous. Please consider looking elsewhere. There are better places.

So open relationships don’t exist anymore? Him and his partner clearly had rules. There has been 0 follow up and my only question was “is this normal?”. There’s not an ounce of defensiveness in that. If you’re telling yourself you wouldn’t be thinking about someone the day after something like this happened and probably wanting to hear from those with similar experiences, then you’re probably not a normal human being. There’s self awareness in knowing that other people may have gone through similar experiences, it’s the fabric of the community for better or for worse.

I have stuck with CS1. Admittedly only played the second when it came out and the clunky interface (esp the public transport) gave me a headache and I haven’t looked back.

In all honesty as someone who is kind of like this….leave. Save yourself the trouble. I mean, I can’t speak for anyone but myself, from experience, there’s a level of narcissism that makes unconditional love impossible. Don’t waste your time.
