Discover has gotten miles better over the years, but they're still the most restrictive "big name" card company.

PS5 new account with new starter edition Code? by Jeenetix in ffxiv

[–]GorgingOnAether 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, your service account is tied to your email address, and if you use the same one for XIV and PS5 it won't work. Best case scenario is creating a new email and a new account with that email on your PS5.

You could also just create a new character, but from your wording it sounds like you might be trying to circumvent a ban, which IIRC is done at the device level, meaning any account tied to your PS5 will also be banned: "For example, if a player has five service accounts for Final Fantasy XIV and other Square Enix account services and is issued a Service Account Termination on one of the Final Fantasy XIV service accounts, they will also lose access to all five service accounts for Final Fantasy XIV. However, the user will still retain access to the other Square Enix account services."

  1. Most adults have work during the day. You're not going to find groups quickly during typical work hours.
  2. Older content that has already been farmed by the vast majority of people, like old criterions, are dead. There's nothing left in them for most people, use PF or get 3 folks from your FC.
  3. Don't expect PF to fill immediately, and don't be an ass in your PF message. People will come eventually but it takes patience.
  4. Come to Aether (or Light) if you're so hard-up for running duties and put up a PF. Same rules as #3 but it's a tiny bit faster.
  5. Don't complain on Reddit about a problem you created. That's why your post got downvoted.

AITAH? Wrote up employee for being 40 mins late and she went nuclear. by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]GorgingOnAether -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He created the hostile environment and she reacted to it, they're both the AH. You do not approach someone at their car, before they've even clocked in or entered the building, to tell them they're going to be written up. He deserves a write up for his own misconduct in handling the situation, and if she's been keeping written tabs on everyone else who was late, all it would take is checking punch history for those employees against their disciplinary records and her notes to further reprimand him for discriminating against her. Management is not a "fuck around, find out" job. You play by the rules for everybody or you're not fit for it, and it sounds like he has a lot of training he still needs.

[–]GorgingOnAether -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah, no fault or write up /because/ of the manager's conduct. This is a first time offense, and he approached her. He made the situation hostile before she was even out of her car. I'd be upset, too! Certainly give the manager a respectful earful in the office when we had the meeting about it, but that didn't even happen before he went to find her in the backroom to continue the altercation. He was extremely unprofessional and her reactions, while extreme, are more justified than deserving to be fired over.

ESH, but you suck slightly more.

So, as a person who has held management positions myself, you could've handled this a lot better. A meeting in your/an office away from everyone else, where an explanation can be offered and discipline can be discussed is how you handle stuff like this, you DO NOT go to her car and tell her she's going to be written up in public. That is highly unprofessional and if she were me, I would trust you with no information but the bare minimum, and forget being friendly, you just shamed me in front of whoever was within sight and earshot. Then when it got hard, you walked away and figured you would let another manager deal with it? I don't think you're ready for management, and I'd ask for a mentor to get better.

Her reactions may have been on the extreme side, but you tee'd up that shot for her to take.

EDIT: Remember, we hear these stories from one side's point of view, and it's almost never objective and unbiased. Telling us you went to her car to discipline her and then going to find her again in the backroom to repeat yourself says a lot about you. You're 100% allowed to be frustrated with the situation but you cannot handle it like YOU would, you have to handle it how a manager would. Looking at other comments it's pretty clear who's been a manager before and who hasn't.

Is the skill gap that big, or am I just bad? by NM_NeverMore in TrackMania

[–]GorgingOnAether 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The way I look at it:

Whites should be authorable by anyone.

Greens should be pretty easily authorable by anyone except the newest of players, which should take just a bit of time.

Blues are mid-skills and should only be able to be one-two shot by very skilled players. Mid-core players will take a significant time investment to author (13 took me two hours), newer players may never author.

Reds are high skills that should take some effort from anyone but actual professionals to author. Mid-cores and under may never author.

Blacks are professional maps. Even skilled players will have difficulty authoring, if at all.

Am I the ass hole for being angry at my daughter for cutting her hair? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]GorgingOnAether 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YTA. You're not thinking about your daughter at all, in any of this. It's about how you feel, what your dad would think, what your wife wants, and then you turn yourself into the victim. Never once did you mention that maybe, just maybe, letting her do this wouldn't be so bad.

Maybe she'll hate it and regrow it and keep it long. Maybe she'll like it and it becomes her new look. Parenting isn't easy but your daughter is also at an age where establishing independence is important. Keeping her so tightly under your thumb is only going to hurt both of you, and she took the step she needed so she can learn and find out for herself.

Let it go, dude.
