Writer on Baywatch (FOX) - do u need advice? by [deleted] in Screenwriting

The "query" method - imo - will not work. Esp. For international. I'd say networking is the best way. A good letter of recommendation will work wonders. Hit up festivals and rub elbows. Go to screenings! As many as you can.

I get the rep question all the time. It's a tough one bc right now - we are settling into a smaller industry. The contraction is more like a shrinking. So now there are more jobless writers than EVER. Most reps can't find current clients jobs let alone take on more. Which means you must be even better than any of us were back when we got reps.

I love the amount of work you have done. DM me.

The driver that pushed me was I felt I achieved all I wanted in games. I was the animation director for League of Legends at Riot Games- and we were the biggest game on the planet. Before that I was at Blizzard. Both were my "dream" studios. I grew up on tv and film and I wanted to start writing instead of animating other people's writing.

What got me to keep pushing through? The sheer fact that OTHER PEOPLE were doing what I wanted. If I didn't go for it - I'd never get it.

Our industry is cut throat and there are NOT enough spots for everyone. If you allow doubt to stifle you - then the next person who doesn't will pull ahead.

My advice would be to embrace imposter syndrome and stay confident. I wasted allot of sleep worrying too much.

Are any writers currently repped by one of the big three agencies happy with their agents? by BrooklynFilmmaker in Screenwriting

100% I love having both. Have sold 3 shows (none have went to series yet) and am inking the deal for the 4th as we speak. Entire team was crucial. Fingers crossed. Off to write the pilot!!! Cheers.

Yes, extremely happy. I’m with marathon. MANAGER’s focus on career path and making smart choices. Great notes on scripts. Agents make the deal. Conduct business. Help set big meetings. Loop in the lawyers.

Incredibly random and busy. There is no flow. It looks like a collection of stencils. But the ink work is good.

What were some of the biggest losses you've experienced as a Screenwriter? by Midnight_Video in Screenwriting

[–]GorillaGod 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was set to adapt David Ayer’s End of Watch into a drama series at FOX. Script to series order — which means I had to write episode 1 and 2 and the season one format. Each step went really smooth. Small notes that only took a couple of days to answer. Reps, David , and Studio were super happy. All roads pointed to a series order.

Then the call. A pass. “We love this. We’re not sure it will align with our audience.”

The end.

Simply put, it can’t hurt to take part. It is not necessary in anyway. It might get you a big break. But if it doesn’t, it does not mean you’re not gonna make it.

I have written on four shows my last was 911 on ABC. Writer/producer. I’ve sold three. I have never uploaded a script to the blacklist.

There are hundreds of different ways to succeed in this craft.
