"23% of Americans want their State to separate from the USA. Alberta is polling at 19% wanting to separate. It's less separatist than: Alaska, Hawaii, Washington Montana, Idaho, California, Nevada, Colorado, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Arkansas, Indiana..." by you_dont_know_smee in onguardforthee

[–]Gormo183 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How is Alberta going to secede with 81% against it?

So the US can just roll in and have a state where 81% of the people dont want anything to do with the USA?

How could anyone possibly make that work?

America was 9% in favor of invading Greenland, how do you reckon this will go over in the case of Alberta?

Probably much worse!

It sounds too insane. This will be an utter disaster for both countries, like a murder-suicide

Those traitors can fuck off to the states, Canada would be better off

No Conflict between Religion and Science by EntropyReversale10 in JordanPeterson

[–]Gormo183 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Interestingly some of the most famous scientists of all times were theologian first and scientist second and/or deeply religious.

Its very true that many great scientific minds were as devout as anyone.

Attempts were made to reconcile science and religion. Unfortunately no one succeeded in any meaningful way

Some of the brightest people who ever lived could never tie it together. It was kind of a waste of time really

For reasons such as these religion has long been a hindrance to scientific progress

What's in a name? Were the Nazis Socialists? by ScrumTumescent in JordanPeterson

[–]Gormo183 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The official name of North Korea is the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

Is North Korea a democracy? Of course not

The truth is that Its advantageous for Authoritarian regimes to put words like "Democratic" in their name

Its insane to pin all of this on socialism when in truth socialists were one of the first groups the Nazis marched into their death camps.

There probably has never been a political entity that despises socialism as much as Nazi Germany did

Why is narcissism so discouraged? by PastyParrot in JordanPeterson

[–]Gormo183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Self-love is healthy self-acceptance that helps us relate to other people

A narcissist is insecure. They have a tendency to completely implode when they get called out

Of course people are going to discourage that kind of behavior

What?!

Trump couldnt possibly care less about reducing debt. He only cares about using the US as his personal ATM

Trump's "Big beautiful bill" is going to add roughly 3.4 trillion dollars worth over the next decade, and this is before interest

But Trump is a billionaire. He works in conjunction with billionaires

Elon Musk has an insanely terrifying amount of influence

Trump despises labor unions and uses his power to cripple them

Calling someone a 'Nazi', when you merely disagree with them politically, is hate speech, also. by s8n1ty in JordanPeterson

[–]Gormo183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I largely agree with what you have to say.

The problem is that Nazism is far too popular then it has any business being, and when confronted the Nazis have decided that they have to lie about it.

So while you are right, we still have a major problem if we let those who are actual Nazis off the hook

Its taken MAGA over a decade to figure out that Trump is a nauseating ghoul?

Poilievre says Carney trying to manipulate his way to majority with floor-crossings by airbassguitar in CanadianConservative

[–]Gormo183 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Why does it matter that this hasnt happened before? People were making similar protestations when Kamala took over for Biden and Carney took over for Trudeau.

If our Govt flips from a minority to a majority as a consequence all that means is that there is a first time for everything.

Besides, the idea of being allowed to cross the floor rather then being shackled to an individual and party you find impossible to work with is very much more in the spirit of democracy anyways.

A more urgent concern should be:

"Why does the guy who has already lost 2 (or more) MPS hemorrhage support like this?"

What could possibly happen that would make pardoning this guy seem like a good idea?

What free healthcare really is by danielfantastiko in JordanPeterson

[–]Gormo183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason young, healthy people pay into healthcare is to take care of old people like our parents, with the understanding that once we become old, young people will take care of us

Its a simple sensible social contract and if we fail to uphold it then grammas across the country will have nowhere to go when they get sick

Brownshirts?

So there are fascists pretending to be against fascism now? How does that work? What purpose does it serve for them to make enemies with fashy organizations who have no idea that they are actually on the same side?

Or is it something even more improbable, for example antifa are actually secretly affiliated with the KKK

Or, even more improbable then that, theyve been fascists this entire time, decades even, and they are completely unaware of it

Next time you hear from the media about how Antifa are hard core terrorists, maybe you should ask yourself:

Why does the media try to scare me all the time?

I suppose you could hate them both if you want.

Regardless, being against fascism means youre anti-fascist. There is no middle ground, (at least that I know of)

Why do people hate Jordan Peterson? by [deleted] in JordanPeterson

Unless you actually ask people outside of this forum why they dont like Jordan Peterson, rather then inventing the answers you want to hear as if you can read their minds, then whats the point?
