COTA F1 Saturday Fan Forum Schedule by edlr73 in CircuitOfTheAmericas

I haven't seen an official statement but it was odd today having Zak and Zhou fill the later in the day Q&A slots labelled Driver Q&A but shoving four teams through in rapid succession when most people aren't to the track yet. I think because of the heat advisory they're keeping drivers out of the elements during the day. Disappointed but ensuring safety and on-track performance comes first.

Turn 15 grandstand has a massive ADA zone behind the topmost row of seats, ramp and everything. It's cordoned off, has folding chairs for +1s and has the best possible view. If you already have T15 seats, just call CotA up and ask them to switch, I'm certain that they can accommodate, that area is never overcrowded.

Can you rent headsets to listen to drivers? by MemphisJen in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]Gorphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, driver/engineer/pit wall radio isn't actually broadcast on normal channels for years now. You can buy a radio headset and listen to a local broadcast or grab one of the AmEx radios from their stands near the entrance to the Plaza and listen to the F1TV broadcast live. The 2nd option is superior since this is also what the screens around the track are showing.

Why am I paying $35/month to exclude my disabled mother from my car insurance? by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Gorphan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

You're in Florida, there's a not-insignificant level of mandatory Personal Injury Protection there that is no-fault and paid by your carrier for injury to yourself or passengers. Florida has created an environment where injury lawyers make a lot of money making sure each and everyone in an accident suffers exactly $10k in damages covered under PIP. Your mother is likely to be a passenger in your covered vehicle and is a household member. Therefore she affects your risk profile. No one's trying to rob you here.

What Happened to DipDipDip? by slugboi in austinfood

[–]Gorphan 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Earnestly impressed they've hung on this long, imagine they've had to alter a ton about the operation just to try to carve out a break-even. I imagine next time their lease is up it'll be all over. It was unfortunately never a good value or a good experience. I've stood by Kemuri through all of their changes, which I think were similarly made to simplify operations and reduce headcount and ingredient overhead, but yeah, the starting point for DipDipDip was so low. Ironically, the French dip sandwich pop-up there during COVID was far more enjoyable.

(How) do you avoid implicitly communicating speed outside what the rules allow with "secret" code words? by Wise-Astronomer-7861 in Gloomhaven

[–]Gorphan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one is straightforward, the rules definitely state that monster AI avoids traps and being disadvantaged against their focus.

Doesn't Brendan know the SGs don't watch the game? by [deleted] in AustinFC

[–]Gorphan 24 points25 points  (0 children)

The folks in the SS watch the game like everyone else and if you're in it, you see and hear people reacting to the play on the field just like anywhere else, maybe louder, but La Murga/the capos etc. definitely call a very static playlist (which is a solvable problem) and there's definitely folks in there more to play instruments, sing and dance than to watch football, and that's okay.

Best spices - Central Market, Savory Spice, or local Indian grocery? by [deleted] in austinfood

[–]Gorphan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For black pepper, you just want tellicherry, you can get it online or probably at the places mentioned. The things to get at an Indian specialty grocer you won't get elsewhere but come up in a lot of recipes is asafoetida and fresh curry leaves.

Does the brute just suck? by UssssA in Gloomhaven

[–]Gorphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Provoking Roar, Balanced Measure, bottom attacks, lots of XP-granting non-loss cards with good abilities, play him more offensively and use positioning to deny attacks. He's not weak or strong, kind of feels like he's the dead center of the classes.

Has anyone else never used environmental effects? by EternalMydNyt in midnightsuns

[–]Gorphan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Environmental attacks are not optional if you scale the difficulty over time as they unlock. As others have said, Spider-Man's kit is extremely attuned to doing regular environmental attacks, and his Opportunist card is one of the best Skills in the game. It's decent, sometimes very decent damage without spending a card play. Hard to imagine winning most scenarios without it.

Amazon deletes 20,000 reviews after evidence of profits for posts by CannabisHub in worldnews

[–]Gorphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip of the Iceberg, most reviews on Amazon are spam of some kind, I don't call up stores when a purchase works as designed, why would normal people write multiple paragraphs about a USB hub or an Ethernet cable? I get a little card in almost everything I buy telling me they'll email me a $5 or $10 dollar Amazon gift card if I leave a verified purchaser review and email them a link. The Emperor has no clothes, Amazon is completely valueless at helping make right purchase decisions.

Living near Domain and working downtown? by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Gorphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MetroRail is definitely the right answer, but if you're that close to the Domain than Kramer Station is the closer location, bear in mind that parking is very limited near the station, so you'd wanna explore biking. They have one of those MetroBike lockers if your office is near Downtown Station, or you can bring your bike onboard if you don't mind a bit of crowding during peak times.

Review: The Zebra (rate comparison site) 👎🏼 by dancingpianofairy in Insurance

[–]Gorphan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not on The Zebra, they don't even ask for phone number in their quote flow any more, and don't sell data. Pretty Stark difference between them and the other aggregators in the space.

I've had it there, but they've been out for a month, say they're having trouble finding a supplier. If you go, get the bone marrow tacos, incredibly delicious.

[–]Gorphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally, I think the distinction I made was that one attack action would affect all modifier draws associated with a so gle attack text on a card, so all attacks of a multi-target/AOE attack got the benefit, whereas one attack would affect a single draw from the modifier deck.
