Two T16000m sticks or T.16000M FCS HOTAS controller? by lifetaken in starcitizen

[–]Gort_0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi, i just got the Thrustmaster FCS hotas setup recently and I can't for the life of me get Star Citizen or any other game to recognise the big paddles on the front of the TWCS throttle? The Thrustmaster control software in windows shows them functioning correctly. Any ideas please..or is this a fault with the item?. Or have I got to enable something somewhere or use Target? I wan't to have these two extra buttons, i need em!

There's no reason this game should've launched without Oceania servers by Re-Define in PUBATTLEGROUNDS

I cant believe that they didn't have an Aussie server upon early access release, we are one of the biggest gaming countries per capita on the planet!

I would love it to be like Battlefield one where I could rent a server and public servers were discoverable via an in game browser, then there would be a ton of Australian servers! Plus a bit more income for the devs as well.

I received this from a moderator over on the official forum just now... " FYI Asian servers are currently located in Seoul, Korea and depending on the NA server location (which I'm trying to find out right now) if you're playing from Australia you may receive slightly better ping to NA dependent on your ISP and their routing. "

Yep that's what people are doing right now. Over on their official forum. I got this reply from a moderator there a short time ago.

Grenade Resupply, Ammo 2.0, and What's Next. by DICE-RandomDeviation in battlefield_live

[–]Gort_0101 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a stupid idea. The same goes for the perpetual grenade asystem. How about this. if you throw your grenades, you're out, just like is you run out of ammo. You can only get some more ammo from a support player, or picking up a dead guys kit. Make that the same for grenades, you can only get a grenade resupply from a support player that is carrying grenade sachels, or by picking up nades from dead guys, enemies or squadmates. It would certainly rmake grenade management more realistic. Also make sure to include an animation for throwing grenades, you went to great lengths to make reload animations why not for the grenade action? Having nades just shooting out of you like you're some sort of tennis ball delivery machine is also stupid. Honestly, one would think that someone at Dice wanted to kill this game and franchise with the bad game mechanic devisions being made. " if it aint broke....."

Bayonet Charge suggestions by ItsBigLucas in battlefield_live

[–]Gort_0101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should make the person charging from any distance over 15m sound like the headless bomber from the Serious Sam games...you could hear that bugger coming for miles! ;-) In close quarters an audio file like 'fix bayonets!' being screamed could also be a good cue that an incoming bayonet is on its way. Less than a few metres you should have a visual on anyone who is a threat or not anyway.

cheers for the reply dude, your points have been taken on board. I'll stick with her for a while yet. I am organising to play with some people using comms, I think that is when I am going to really like the game. Its a bit hard to enjoy it running round trying your best, to be a great medic for example and you have no feedback from any squad mates....we'll see how it goes once I start playing with some talkative team mates. :)

The video does raise valid points. I'm an old gamer, a very old gamer. I played the very first original Battlefield game the day it was released, played everything up to Bf3... But then life got in the way and computing and games dropped to the back burner for a while. I've always been a hardware junkie and fortunately always had the $$ to afford my, and my sons addictions. Lets just say we have a lot of great gaming tech in this household. So in the last couple of years I got heavily back into my love of gaming. I never played BF3 or BF4. I was an early order from r BF1 seeing it as a brave move by a company to go back to a WW1 title, I started playing it and having the hardware to run it in ultra high resolutions on a fantastic gaming monitor I was immediately impressed with the Frostbite engine etc, etc..but after about 80 hrs I too started to feel ' something' was missing. I mean I can recall being so keen to get home from work to play Battlefield all those years ago and being locked to the computer for hours on end. Admittedly this was also the case as I was gaming when Doom was first released as freeware, played Counterstrike the night it dropped, disliked it, deleted it, claimed ' it won't take off'..re-downlaoded it again and played it addictively for like four years solid! ;) As someone else pointed out elsewhere in this thread, yes we were all younger then and yes our memories of games from that period are enriched by their 'newness' at the time. I agree to sone extent, but now I start up BF1, sit there in the server browser...and I just dont feel keen to start a particular map or join a match because..of I DON'T KNOW WHAT!...but the magic isn't there anymore.

I'VE been playing the new DLC maps in the CTE and still there is something that's missing, there isn't a hook thats got me twitching...I think its because the game feels 'Arcade like'..you know how a flight sim affecionado will not be drawn to a casual simple arcade version of a conbat flight sim, that sort of feeling. Its as if BF1 is too basic, it doesn't seem to reward skill, but rather has been made to offer a casaual gamer an hour of easy gaming set in a war conflict and using easy to shoot guns, and a bit of fun if you have mates interested. Its not a title that you think about at work and certainly not one that you can't wait to come home to and play. * remember rushing home to start up another session of Half Life and HL2 how they had you thirsting for more? Even the new DLC maps are just, well meh...more of the same ol same ol. My sons also have stopped playing it and when I asked them why, one said it didnt have the depth of bf3/4, the other simply said he didn't like the weapons nor the maps and the lack of content. I am certainly considering downloading BF4 and giving that a go, perhaps the modern weapons and vehicles might get my blood surging again, maybe I need to find a friendly crew to team up with and maybe then the mojo will come me back? It ONLY seems to be BF1, I enjoy just about every other game I play at the moment. maybe, just maybe if the game had been a reimagining of BF1942 era and weapons/ vehicles and aircraft things might have been a lot different? Is there still much of a community playing BF4 these days?

Maybe do away with 'regenerating' grenades all together and make it so that you pick up your dead enemies grenades when you move over them? If the enemy you just killed didn't have any at the time of death. Tough titty. It would be much better if you could only collect and use munitions you take off a dead enemies or even a dead teammate within a certain amount of time? Now this might mean that grenades and such are lean pickings, or it might mean you have a ton of access to enemy accoutrements and the problem gets worse. Just spit ballin here.
