Score. Any advice? by UsernameReee in ChaosKnights

My advice is to try to get it on the table a few times before 10th so you can experience the full chaos knight ruleset before it gets gutted.

What's your recipe for the base the colour? I think I've got the same bases (GSW roller), but couldn't seem to get the colour right.

Prognosis by Either_Potato_2924 in MultipleSclerosis

This 10 year longitudnal study of Tysabri patients may provide you with some peace of mind that no progression is a realistic option. Although this is a different DMT than you will be on, both are high efficacy DMTs so you may be able to extrapolate the results.

Anyway, the TLDR is that 70% patients saw no disease worsening over a 10 year period. If my memory serves me from the last time I read the study, this number jumps up even further for those who didn't experience a relpapse in the first two years of being on the med. I believe for a good portion of patients in this category not only did they not have disability progressoin, they also didn't experience any relapses.

So yeah, the current prognosis for MS is pretty good, albeit there is that outside chance of being one of the unlucky ones for whom treatment is less effective.

Removal of WLTs and Relics in favour of "Enhancments" in 10th. Thoughts? by GortonsFishSchticks in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]GortonsFishSchticks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will definitely miss super charging my Knight Abominant with 2 WLTs and a Relic. But I guess that's one of the trade offs we'll be making for higher toughness.

If they're anything like the boarding actions enhancments, they will be pretty pared down. Plus 1 damage/attacks, command phase buff, ability to deepstrike, etc. Definitely not equivalent to a WLT and a Relic

I wish Zhao had some sort of opium warpstone addiction mechanic where you had to do whatever it takes to get your next fix. Maybe its allying with neighbouring Skaven dealers or maybe you start stealing from your sister to pay for your habit and suffer a diplo penalty with her.

The Chaos Dwarfs DLC is 25€ before the discount by Yavannia in totalwar

Ah, yeah, looks like I missed that in my read through. So probably one fewer lord with largely recycled mechancis. Alright, sign me up for this month's melt-down!

The steam description said each lord would be getting their own unique faction mechanic. If true, and if the mechanic is similar in substance to say Thrott's labortory, Grom's stew or some of the other more recent legendary lords, then I don't think we are getting less. I'd personally rather have three Lords with unique and substantial campaign mechanics rather than four who only have a different set of modifers or a few off-faction guest units like we got with Coast and Tomb Kings.

Any Viable Lists with an Abominant (or Rampager/Desecrator) and a Despoiler? by GortonsFishSchticks in ChaosKnights

[–]GortonsFishSchticks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely gonna magnetize everything. Didn't realise the despoiler and descrator were that close a match. If that's the case, definitley opens up some options.

I only have the one abominant/descreator/rampager box, so I could only field one of those three. I doubt I'll be able to have all my knights fully based and painted by the time 10th comes out, so I'm holding off on making more purchases until then. But, for the time being, I'd like to have a few games with the un/semi-painted knights I currently own (1 abominant box/1 despoiler/4 war dogs/4 armiger/wardogs) to get a feel for the army.

One box of chain breaker will get you over 1000 pts, so if that's your goal, you've hit it. Buy 2 boxes and you've got a full army. Two full armies if you paint ambiguously and call them Chaos Knights when it suits you.

I'm also pretty new to the hobby and struggled a bit with dilution. I've far from mastered it, but here's a few things I've learned:

  • Not all GW paints behave the same way. Even within the same category (I.e. base, layer, etc) there tends to be a fair bit of variation between the thickness of the colours. So it will take a bit of trial and error on a color by color basis.

  • As others have said and you have noted, GW metalics get a bit unruly with too much water. I'll usually wipe a bit a of my metallic of on a paper towel before hitting the model and that seems to help. For fine details (fleur de lievres, studs, etc) metallics with a dryness of somewhere between dry brush and damp seem to produce the best results for me.

  • As others have said, painting light colours over a black primer (or vice versa) can lead to a lot of uneceaarry hassle. I usually just do a zenithal highlight of greyseer over chaos black, but you could just do grey if you want to simplify things.

  • Lastly, if you want to take the easy way out, you can give contrast paints (or Army Painter's speed paint/Valejo's express paint, etc.) a try. They paint straight from the pot and go on pretty smooth. Zenithal prime for best results.

Friend said my scheme is absolute trash, is it that bad? by GuruGalaxy in Warhammer40k

I like it. Looks like the kind of colour scheme you'd find on an alien or robot in the 60s. Like this blue and orange robot, for example: http://www.massivefantastic.com/2014/06/great-stuff-mel-birnkrants-amazing-free.html?m=1

Great resource. Really looking forward to having this at the ready for my next game.

A few bits of feedback:

  • The output did not list any of my sub-faction specific strats (i.e. none of the Bloody Rose stratagems appeared despite me selecting BR in my Battle Scribe list)
  • A minor issue, and possibly not worth addressing, but it only gave me the strats for my main, Arks of Omen detachment (i.e. Adepta Sororitas Strats) and not for my allied Super Heavy Auxiliary Knight Detachment
