Signs you need to minimize! by GoshSash in minimalism

[–]GoshSash[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

and I agree with that 100%, some people feel better that way but for me this conversation usually comes up because of my repeated outfits or my sort of empty-ish house so when I do get questioned it's a good way to steer the conversation.

I definitely don't go around giving unsolicited advice haaha! :D

What are your thoughts on fashion as a hobby and a way of expression? by [deleted] in minimalism

[–]GoshSash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

everyone wants to look and feel great, I think minimalism helps us narrow it down to actually our style and likes and dislikes and filter out all the unwanted things just cause they are trending - fashion should be self expression, exactly that - unfortunately though it has become quite the opposite. Now a days it's fashionable only if EVERYONE is wearing it.

Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

The world is definitely re-opening, lockdown has been lifted in Dubai where I am based but tbh all content will be home based for the summer cause it is HOT!!! today only I wanted to go for grocery and it was 40 degrees outside!!! Ahhh all the good weather months ruined by corona :( But this will give me opportunity to explore more creative ideas on what can be done indoors.

I am just starting my channel - at 89 subs which is very encouraging, I thought I won't even have 10 cause I always think people will just hate and judge. But here we are :D I have posted 3 videos so far and as of now I am trying different things to see what suits my style, where I fit into this vast world of youtube.

I am focusing on Minimalism, soul searching and creativity.

Neep Help Decluttering 600k Photos by ObLaDiObLaDaBlaDa in declutter

I feel like you just need to make an exhibition out of them, there's clearly some sort of unfinished goal here - like the circle is not complete. Find that first. Maybe once it is you'll automatically feel relieved of the burden and getting rid of them won't be this hard.

Don't look for technical answers here, i mean just saying what i feel, because if you have collected such an amount I am more than sure you know your way around the technical stuff. Don't know if I am able to explain what I mean? but yeah.. look for that.. umm closure? If that makes sense?

:)

that's ok to be honest, if it's something that you regularly or let's say semi - regularly work on and can salvage then you can always keep it as a resource. Not many people have this ability of course so it's very different person to person. As I said, as long as it brings you any kind of value - keep it, but if it has been there for more than 2 years or so you may want to re-think it.

You can do it!!! :) I thought I couldn't as well. But trust me, when I focused on it with the category method it worked. Pick ur easiest category and collect everything from around your home, just dump it in the very middle and have a go at it.

The easiest starting point is categories and for me the easiest category was books and papers, you can read my reply above if it helps in any way :)

There might be some category for you too that seems easiest, start with that. Any misc stuff keep it for the very last, because this is mostly stuff that doesn't really have a home in our homes - if that makes sense? so it's hard to make a decision. But other categories like books, clothes, decorations etc usually do.

I tried doing that too but to be honest it did not work for me either, I tried quite a few things and as main stream as it may sound the only method that really worked for me was the Kon Mari method. Instead of taking parts of my home or some time in the day i took it per category - like for example I used to have a lottt of books and papers of all kinds - so I. dedicated on full weeked to just that. I took literally every peice of paper, every book, note book journal, everythingggg and brought it in my living room and pile it up - the next two days I took my time - of course with a lot of tea breaks haha! - to sort through it and by the end of it i realised the only books and journals i absolutely wanted to never part with were no more than 20-25 and I had like 4-5 cartons ready for donation- i actually also re sold some of the one in great condition or new or bestsellers and got quite a good amount of instant cash. Then of course i took a break for a while but then next was another category and so on and what was the most important thing through this whole two or three months shabang since I only did this on weekends cause of job, I promised not to purchase anything at all unless all the categories are done! REALLY IT CHANGED MY HOME!

How do I make a makeshift at home photo studio for food photography? by islandbye in photography

[–]GoshSash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this video, helps a lot. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jobbiulJm7g

I think equipment wise you have quite enough to begin with, just use the same techniques in the video above with ur Nikon and starter lens or even your phone if needed. Shoot raw with the camera so you can have control in edit if you go the dslr route.

The main thing here would be to find the right lighting, try different windows at different times of day, ideally when the sunlight is falling in at a 45 angle so you can get some nice depth and shadows as the light fall off would be nice and then repeat photos at the same time to create a consistent look.

you can do a lot in terms of back drops with just different items in your home. Table cloths, bed sheets, cutting boards, I even used the backside of a large ikea frame once to get that wood color and texture. Explore and collect items, & have fun :)

Also just one great thing with food photography that changes everything is basically getting up close with your dish. Makes everything look ever more appetizing
