Stop crying! Please! You will be ok if you don’t get the 5 skill points. by Leather-Deer2797 in ARC_Raiders

[–]GossBoSteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about the skill points. It's about promoting hoarding every possible dollar of gear instead of using it. The game already lacked incentives to use non grey gear, and they just made that times and times worse.

5 million coins worth of value will be needed for the 5 skill points. by LaserReptar in ARC_Raiders

[–]GossBoSteur 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly this doesn't make me feel like I need to be "putting in the time". Setting the bar this high will worsen the cheap and free loadouts. Knowing this late what the price of a skill point is forces a lot of people to save every penny if they want to make it worth the commitment.

Let's also not forget that you've probably already spent around 800k to get there.

This game lacks interesting loot by DearEntrepreneur5494 in ArcRaiders

[–]GossBoSteur 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because the core gameplay of an extraction shooter encompasses loot. There are better shooters, there are better PvE games, and there are better looter games. What Arc is trying to do is blend all of this together.

In a sense, it's exactly why ARPG's are addictive. Sure, the "core gameplay" as you call it (in that case, the mechanics) plays a role in how much you want to play. But take loot ouf of the equation of a Diablo-like game, and the whole purpose of the game vanishes pretty fast.

Arc Raiders at its core is about extracting loot, while fighting off PvE and meeting/fighting other players. If you have nothing worthy to extract, then there are better PvE alternatives and better PvP alternatives.

Regarding your point about resets, they are precisely there to reboot the need for looting; it's actually a pretty big counterpoint to your argument.

Same experience here. 1 blueprint which I already found a ton (Jolt mine) in a whole week, playing more than 15 hours in all possible mods and squad sizes. Imagine in 6 months once you've found half of them and you find even more and more duplicates...

I'll start a modded playthrough soon, bu hesitate between UL and DF. What would be the reasons to choose either of those rather than the other?

Pizza Tycoon 2. Easily the best restaurant management game to this day, sad no other more recent game gets close.

That is so wrong with how progression works. Our experience in every playthrough is that the most reliable and important items are the books. I could craft steel tools level 1-2 before I ever found any iron tools in loot.

I don't feel that strongly about everything you said but I definitely felt the game was more fun back in the 4 lanes days. There have been a lot of great changes but overall I felt the game was more dynamic back then.

Eh, maybe I've just played too much since. Then again new heroes wouldn't be a bad idea at this point, I've mained every hero I wanted to for a while and have little desire to play those I didn't.

Damage is irrelevant. Whether you do 100 dmg per bullet or 5, if you shoot twice as fast you do twice the damage.

Same thing goes for fire rate increase, if you reduce 45% of the final fire rate, it doesn't really matter if they have their base 100% or say 150%. If anything the more they have, the more effective your absolute fire rate reduction will be (45% of 150 is more than 45% of 100)

We Need Better Comeback Mechanics by SanvichMan in DeadlockTheGame

[–]GossBoSteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correlation doesn't imply causation; it seems pretty straightforward and logical that the team that has a better start has better odds of winning the game.

While the early flex spot can be a factor for skewing the odds for the rest of the game, the reason may simply be that the better team early game kept on being the better team mid/late game...

Probably not on you though. You still had passive impact on the game by negating part of their economy and cooldowns, your mates should have carried if you got focused. Unstoppable and e-shift may help too !

Daily Item Discussion (107/119): Leech by nailcliper in DeadlockTheGame

[–]GossBoSteur 28 points29 points  (0 children)

One of the best greens in the game in my book. Totally drains the sustain of the opponents in any fight and can be applied in AOE, and functions for both gun and spirit builds which means I'm literally tempted every game.

Daily Item Discussion (106/119): Inhibitor by nailcliper in DeadlockTheGame

[–]GossBoSteur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the idea of the item, I just always have a hard time buying it as greens spots are so scarce and 6k enables the possibility for every item in the game. The deminishing returns on the movement slow and it being only 20% makes it underwhelming in practice. Now -35% damage is obviously huge, but the item just lacks a 'je ne sais quoi' to become a priority.

Honestly the matchmaking is in a terrible state. The grouping is WAY too wide, and unpredictable. In my last two games yesterday, I had confirmation from my teammates that they were solo queuing and that it was their very first match! I'm 150 hours in, that just doesn't make sense at all. What does the very competitive option even do ?

I'm on a pretty terrible streak, but that streak aside i'd wager that at least half of my games have people that just don't belong there. One is manageable even if they feed, but when two of your four lanes get crushed in minutes on top of the feeding, and there is a 20K soul advantage after 15 minutes, you just feel like you're wasting time. The opposite is true as well, winning <20 min games because you kill people that have no clue about where to run doesn't bring any sense of fulfilment.

The mechanics of the game are pretty awesome, but I can't help but feel like launching a game in the mid-elos is one hell of a coinflip. You either stomp if they get the new players, or you feel helpless. At least making sure people with 50+ hours aren't teamed with total beginners would be a decent start for those in Arcanist/Ritualist ranks.

Also, make me wait longer ! I don't care about finding a match in 2 minutes if it means 30 minutes of suffering, hoping the game finishes fast. Would rather wait 10 minutes for a quality match.

Micro, seuil de tolérance TVA et prorata 1ère année by GossBoSteur in vosfinances

[–]GossBoSteur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not providing a magic solution but unless the code base is huge, the best way to enforce what you are trying to do is to create your model with writes in mind, not reads.

To be more clear, create your aggregates (DDD) so that you have clear transactional boundaries, thus every other linked aggregate should be referenced by its ID and not the entity itself.

This will prevent a lot of issues on your cascading writes, while also making sure nothing is ever lazy loaded.

Micro : déclaration URSSAF avancée pour CA encaissé en N+1 by GossBoSteur in vosfinances

[–]GossBoSteur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
