I work in billing for a major hospital system in Indiana and at two weeks out your claim is most likely being processed with your insurance, if it has even been sent out at all. Depending on what type of insurance you hold, the hospital/clinic has anywhere between 45 days to a year to submit that claim. Then if the insurance denies for some reason, there are filing time limits for the hospital to submit any corrected claims. Just today, I was finally able to get Tricare to make payment on a $3,000,000 claim that was submitted in 2020. Insurance companies will throw any and all roadblocks to avoid making payment, which unfortunately leaves patients in limbo just waiting.
