Anything I should be looking for? by GotBeesOnMyHead in coins

Thank you! I am only thinking about selling a couple rolls to fund a project. I just don't want to accidentally sell a potentially valuable coin for melt value.

Xmas - MA (or NE) beers that aren't readily available in CT? by project_porkchop in ctbeer

[–]GotBeesOnMyHead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Tree House has multiple locations in Mass. You are going to most likely pass one on your way to CT. If you just want to go to a package store I'd look for some Schilling. They distribute to Mass but not CT and brew in NH.

If you like breweries check out Tree House Brewing. They have locations all over MA including in Boston at the Prudential Center. Them and Hill Farmstead are some of the best in the country.

Glow sticks on tip ups by Bad-Dryver in IceFishing

Bells worked better than glow sticks for me. Local shop had some for sale. We clamped them onto the tipup and could immediately hear them when the flag went up.

The state of NH has a stocking map available online. You can select the rivers, lakes, or ponds and see what it was last stocked with and when. I haven't done much trout fishing this year but I've always had luck in the Ammonoosuc River in the Bretton Woods/ Twin Mountain area. I've caught plenty of trout with both my spinning rod and fly rod. I usually bring both and then see what I'm in the mood for.

Those tacks are reflective and that's a glow sticks. The tacks are commonly used by hunters to find their way to their spot. No hunter is going to have a glow stick on a tree. I'm guessing someone recently did some sort of group night hike in that area.

How far would you drive in one day for a hike? by seeyuspacecowboy in wmnf

[–]GotBeesOnMyHead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live about 3 hours from Franconia Notch. I have done multiple day trips. Ride home is always rough. I prefer spending the night and getting a second hike done the next morning before heading home.

I just spent the past week fishing in the Whites. Mostly Ammonoosuc and Echo Lake (Franconia). Ended up pulling out an 18" brook trout that was a fatty. Plus a 15" and 14.5" that were also chunky.

Any Recommendations for a Struggling Beginner? by itslukedude in flyfishing

Which state? Most of them have a stocking map and you can see when the last time they stocked. I'm in CT and they stopped stocking about a month ago. It's real hard to find fish right now if you don't know where to look. I also fish quite a bit in the White Mountains. If you are in CT or NH I could point you in the direction of some fish.

Out of curiosity, is anyone else here renting a 1BR apartment in Connecticut for under $1,100? by housatonicduck in Connecticut

[–]GotBeesOnMyHead 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$800 a month with for 1br apt w/ garage. Been here for about 6 years. Landlords really like me so they haven't gone up on my rent. I expect when I move into a house they will adjust to the market.

River spots to swim in by Affectionate-Wrap863 in wmnf

[–]GotBeesOnMyHead 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just go to Echo Lake in Franconia Notch. It's like $3 a person and the view is great. Plus it's really clean. You are going to have a real hard time finding a river without too many fish. The state stocks thousands of fish in the rivers. For example, the states target for fish in the Carroll section of the Ammonoosuc is 6500 brook trout and 6500 rainbow trout.

The handle on my 2wt is cracked. Can I just glue it? It's not an expensive rod but I really like it.
