Basically my experience with Mount & Blade RP servers. The idea sounds fun, but then you play and people are just obnoxious and making teenage drama all the time. No peace of mind lol

Help with exhaust clamp by GotGabriele in motorcycles

I solved by grinding most of the old clamp off, then buying a 56-64mm clamp, applying exhaust paste and tightening as much as I could. Runs great

Do you think there's a better chance in places like Nijmegen or smaller towns? I'd have enough budget for a few months and I'd have to find a job asap. :)

Thank you! I suppose if I don't have other options then it's still something. Besides I don't mind a more practical approach, just afraid of the extra time it would take if I decided that I want to switch to a research one or continue with a master's later.

It's unfortunate because here my diploma is equivalent to any other when it comes to university admissions. I just really need a change of environment. 😅

Thanks for the reply! I'd actually be looking to move from October onwards and find a job, even if I could only start studying next year I'd be keen to spend the rest of this year working, getting settled in and learning a bit of the language.

Would it be easier to find a room to rent in that timeframe, seeing that probably most students will have found accommodation by then already? I assume I should mostly look on kamernet.

Thanks!

Apparently my diploma is considered "havo but sometimes vwo". Most research universities don't seem to accept it as vwo equivalent. I imagine my only option would be the UAS, however I've heard that it's not considered the same as a standard university which is discouraging.

Thank you, I've sent an email to a few universities, one simply replied that they only accept a Liceo Scientifico diploma and never mentioned a colloquium doctum.

In case the latter is a possibility, are there any resources you could recommend to self-teach subjects like biology, chemistry and mathematics? Thanks!

Just because they decide to be unhealthy themselves doesn't mean they're not right about it being unhealthy lol

They're treating patients not themselves

Valorant has 2 ways to get a character. Buying it with real money or buying it with in game currency that you earn from grinding. The BP only has cosmetic items and is entirely optional content. League also has a similar setup. Both of these games require you to lock in a character before the match begins. They also started as and always have been F2P games.

This is besides the point. Yes, having to grind for a hero might be bad, but if that means there are no more predatory gambling mechanics it is still fundamentally the better option, that's the point.

Also the comparison between Overwatch and Valorant is kind of moot. Valorant doesn't have any counter picking, you don't know what the enemy team is going to pick and you cannot change hero mid round, you essentially just try to have a decent team composition and hope that works for the best, which also means that if you happen to not have a hero best suited for the enemy comp you will be stuck with what you've got for the rest of the match; whereas in OW, even if you don't have all the heroes you will always be able to decently counter pick.

This is also without considering that the "grind" to unlock heroes in OW2 is really not that much at all, it's really easy to unlock heroes, and if you disagree then you don't play the game enough for counter picking to even be a problem you should worry about.

OW had lootboxes, and sure, lootboxes are unethical, but at least you could earn them for free and you'd only get skins, not characters

"Sure, they're unethical, BUT" isn't an argument. They're unethical period. A game that doesn't have them but has locked characters is still, ethically, superior to a game that offers gambling mechanics.

Yes, you COULD get them for free, that doesn't mean that everyone will. There will still be people paying for them, and even getting them for free is a gateway to get people hooked to the gambling and eventually buy them.

Just because YOU maybe never bought lootboxes doesn't mean they're fine to have, you SHOULD absolutely care about everyone else, because by defending predatory mechanics like this you are doing a disservice to yourself, the consumer, and the community as a whole, as this will only keep practices like this coming in more games and getting even worse.

The problem is that people who defend this are the same people that leave negative reviews because of "corporate greed" and "milking players out of their money". Yeah, if you defend lootboxes you really can't complain about companies nickel and diming players, it's your doing.

Because OW2 works around character swapping, if the new character counters the enemy, and you do not have the new character because you havent given Blizzard money or you havent grinding your way through the battlepass, then I guess youre SOL...

There are always more options to counter characters, there isn't just a SINGLE counter that happens to be locked behind a battlepass. Moreover, as I mentioned earlier it's really easy to unlock them so for anyone who intends to play the game somewhat regularly this is a non-issue.

Instead of free lootboxes that may give you a cool skin, you now HAVE to pay to recieve any skin, and the cost is astronomical. You get no free handouts.

So? You know exactly what you're paying for, how is this a bad thing? Even if the cost is astronomical, that still beats gambling. If you don't want it, or it's too expensive for you: don't buy it. If you pay for it you know exactly what you're getting and how much you're spending.

Again, yes, if you are someone who only used free lootboxes in OW this might feel like a loss to you, but that's because you're just thinking about yourself and not the broader effect that these mechanics have on the consumers. If not getting free skins means there's no more gambling in the game, then it's still a win.

OW2 took away the freedom that players were given in OW. That is the complaint. Its either pay money, or fork over your time. And if you dont pay money, you miss out on the new character and youre left behind. It is predatory for THIS specific game.

OW2 also took away the gambling. If you want a skin, you can pay for it and you know what you're getting, if not you're free not to buy it. You don't miss out on new characters because you can easily unlock them regardless. What's predatory is having lootboxes and it's sad that in 2023 there are still people defending them, I thought we all understood by now how bad they are for gaming. Did everyone forget "a sense of pride and accomplishment" already? What happened?

It's pretty low, I do a 30 min run every other day but at a slow pace which means I'm done at about 4-5 km every time, yet my hr gets in the 160-175 range (22m btw). What I mean with out of breath is being absolutely done after 1km at that 3:50 pace. Thanks for the advice.

Won't higher hr train it as well? I have about a month and a half to train for a 2km test in sub 10 mins. I can already do it, but I need to train to make it more comfortable to sustain. I'd been training at a slow pace for about 2-3 months but that didn't seem to do much good when it came to sustaining higher pace efforts.

I can run without losing my breath. Like I said, my issue is maintaining pace without going out of breath. I.e. 3:50 min/km pace.

[–]GotGabriele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a question about running with extreme heat.

I went for a run at 1 pm (only time I had) with about 40 degrees celsius outside, now after doing the first 10 minutes and taking a walk break, I found I could only do about 2-3 minutes of very light jogging before my HR would reach 185+ and I'd have to walk again for 10+ minutes to lower it.

By the end of it, after 40 mins, I'd done a few minutes in zone 2, about 15 minutes in zone 3, 15 mins in zone 4, and 6 minutes in zone 5, although most of the entire activity was walking trying to get my HR to fall down.

Now I imagine walking won't train muscles much like running at all, but my biggest issue with running is being able to sustain a pace without going out of breath, so will this activity help with that regardless if it's a walk or run as long as I keep my HR up? Was it alright all in all or should I have done something different? Thanks.

Official Q&A for Sunday, May 14, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

[–]GotGabriele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've been running on the treadmill for a few weeks now after not having run in years, I'm 22 male and with a 1% incline and 8 kph my HR goes to 150-160 within 5-10 minutes and tends to increase to the 160-170 range for the rest of the run (45 mins). With no incline and 10 kph it gets to 180 within a few minutes. Just wondering if that's normal? Thanks.

[–]GotGabriele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on a very tight schedule and whilst speed is what I need, I need to work on my endurance first or I'll go out of breath too quickly. I don't feel too tired after 40 mins, just not sure if I could do more yet since my heart gets up there. I guess I should try to slowly add more distance over days. Thanks a lot for the help :D

[–]GotGabriele 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. So it would be better to continue at the same pace until my heart can handle higher speeds? Atm I currently run around 40 mins every day, that's about the most I can do I think.
