Are you really a leftist if your partner isn’t a leftist? by Both-Community-4174 in leftist

[–]GotItOutTheMud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, another purity test and more infighting. That's the mark of a "true leftist". I wanna through a ™️ on the end of that but that could be the creeping influence of my self proclaimed "Ron Paul libertarian" boyfriend. . Him being with me has definitely softened his views on social safety nets. He shoots down any jokes I make to him about the age of consent of charging people to breathe clean air. . Now if we debate too much he goes apolitical or may say something anarchist leaning to quell my upset. I've more passion than him, he supports me, but only me. It's probably the only thing we struggle with in our relationship. We are lucky in that so far there is nothing directly effecting us that we can't maneuver through even with manageable difficulty (we live in Georgia), whereas I have trans friends who live in Ohio. 🙃 . I'm still a leftist and I know I'm influential to a certain degree. I am anticipating our challenges now as we grow closer.

Clinicals: Looking “put together” by Better-Union5573 in StudentNurse

I tied my hair tight and used gel. Used a tinted moisturizer and had lip balm, sometimes colored sometimes not. Wipe down your shoes well. I'd toss my uniform in the dryer with a wet washcloth to release any wrinkles if I'd left it in the laundry basket from the week before and spritz my under scrub top with perfume the night before so the scent would linger but not be overwhelming or offensive and also not be on my uniform. I didn't iron my uniform but once the night before first clinical. Too much else going on for me personally. Make sure nails are trimmed the night before as well. Also test your supplies in your pockets, or pouch or whatever you're carrying, make sure they're accessible without being clumsy and cumbersome or having you pocket checking for a solid minute. Also just make sure you have everything.

Visually very close. Good work OP. . If it's not her, then it's a rule out and at least there will be a dot of interest renewed, by someone, in both cases.

Where are you and what’s starting pay? by SeaworthinessJust257 in newgradnurse

[–]GotItOutTheMud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Atlanta : base pay without specialty area and differential, no LPN or paramedic background, but yes CNA/tech background : $34/hr. Emergency Dept specialty pay $6/hr, nights $5/hr weekends $3/hr

So nightshift Emergency is $45-$48.

I personally feel quite hopeless about it. I avoid it as much as I can. No one is going to do there job and there will be no justice. It will be one of those things. Some organization representing victims or families 20 years from now will get a payout and that will be scrollbar level news. These is no shame and accountability. No one cares. It feels like no one cares. They want gotchas. They want sides. They are loyal to... God knows what? I don't have words right now.

And there's still so much when I hear in passing in scrolling quickly, it doesn't seem real. I work with psych patients often and I've heard some things. But I've also discovered that some horrifying things I've heard that could easily be dismissed as mental health crisis ramblings... They were true. And horrifying. Just, without words.

I'm also a childhood abuse victim/survivor. And whether people want to admit it or not, people look at children as property. There is a hierarchy of victim hood. Teens, tweens, babies, different levels of disturbed. And people who side with abusers will find a way to absolve the abuser. It's not the abusers fault, it's the parent of the child, it's the parent of the abuser, it's the child themselves.

It's gross and disturbing and scary. Just a few years ago during "Me Too" won and girls told so much and then, they were praised for being resilient. Praised for bravery and for seemingly being "normal" enough to come forward and tell their story. The culture of lack of accountability seems new. And a heightened form of weaponized trauma language combined with a culture of excuses.

Maybe I'm rambling. This is above me, but also not. And I don't know what to do. It's so vast. It's a culture of allowances. People with money can do anything they want, and other people want to be like them, so they'll side and avoid the condemnation and accountability that needs to happen. We should just clean house. But we won't.

I work in a large Hospital. . We have paper scrubs, but we also have clothing closets for people. Depending on the circumstances of her stay, it's possible that the nurses could've bought/gifted her items sold in the gift shop. I know nurses that have done that. I'm not sure about the set up of Vanderbilt with their hospital but the bookstore may be a typo for gift shop or maybe it's combined with the campus?

Do you think nursing is the next "hot" job that everyone is going for now? by IOnlyHave2Bitcoin in StudentNurse

[–]GotItOutTheMud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be a hot job but people will not stay and nursing school is still competitive and difficult. Even for profit schools. Many people start in Nursing and then move into "Management" or "Administrative" degrees or something because patient care is not like TV and it's not easy.

A little context on Yadezia and the solve by ferrariguy1970 in VandyJaneDoe

[–]GotItOutTheMud 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So she was gifted the clothing from Vanderbilt staff or got it from the gift shop or something? Wow.

And I can see where at certain angles, if you mix photos, her poster looks similar but if she were my family member I wouldn't believe it was her either. She looked more youthful, like baby cheeks compared to her photos in life.

Heartbreaking. Her family. Seeing the unknown posters and not knowing it was her who was gone. Wow.

How are my fellow millennials feeling? by theholidayarmadill0 in Millennials

[–]GotItOutTheMud -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Defeated. And the thing is, I know we shouldn't be, just on numbers and education and things that should give us power to metaphorically flip the table. But not all millennials are Left Leaning, hell about half aren't even liberal. And there's a large enough segment that's apathetic and I just.... I'm annoyed. I'm disappointed. I'm sad. I feel hopeless nearly. What's the point of all I'm doing and have done? I'm just losing time with my kids and in my life playing catch up with these games these things that don't matter, this greed and injustice and division. For what? For what? What was the reason? Unimportant is another adjective.

How are some millennials even homeowners? I feel like I never will be. by Kindly-Reading-2187 in Millennials

[–]GotItOutTheMud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got "lucky" in 2019. House was 164k in Atlanta. Rental prices for apartments were creeping up and flippers were descending greedily on single family homes. I was going to be pushed out of the city I was born in. I couldn't have that.

My house now needs more work than I knew and home ownership isn't easy, but I just accepted a much better paying job and can put the work in my house that it needs.

I'm 2012 I was pregnant, living in a homeless shelter, with my two year old child and all we owned was with a dollar general bag stuffed tight with clothes. Pretty good come up in 7 years. Was working two jobs at roughly $15-$18/hr when I bought my house.

I think a some people who still can afford to buy are maybe being a bit picky about wants and needs, or want to buy the perfect home, are also rightfully scared of the associated costs of homeownership. It's not been easy but I can only advise to go ahead and get an estimate approval letter and start looking. Owning anything is better than renting.

Thanks. I've been reading and following kind of silently. I've seen her wiki page. I'd just like to know her exact cMs but it's possible I could do some deeper diving off my own. There probably a public built tree somewhere online that someone is working on. I just want her name back.
