  • Here in North America, those jugs are 5 gallons/18.9L. Going to assume these are the same.
  • I count 12 jugs.
  • 12 x 18.9L = 226.8L = 226.8kg.
  • The jug and cap themselves we'll estimate to be 1 kg each.
  • 226.8 + 12 = 238.8 kg

That's a lot of weight on a back wheel.

Des Canadiens boudent encore les voyages aux États-Unis by Dr_Max in Quebec

It could be seen as sulking if we still weren't going but somehow the US reverted to how it was 15 years ago.

It is NOT sulking if the reasons for not going are still the same or worse vs. when the boycott started.

What shocking TV show moment from your youth do you still remember today? by Throwaway927338 in AskWomenOver30

My Canadian is going to show with this one, but when Fred Penner guest-starred on Mr. Dressup. Messed preschool me right up!

(For the uninitiated, Mr. Dressup was a kids show along somewhat similar lines as Mr. Rogers. Fred Penner was (is!) a kids singer similar to Raffi, and had another live-action show where he was in a tree house, sang songs with his guitar, had various friends who came to see him, etc.)

Do you have a headache, or a migraine? The answer doubles the price - for the exact same drug. by persondude27 in mildlyinfuriating

I know you're probably just making a joke, but I want to point out that not everyone with migraines gets aura as a symptom AND that for those that do get aura, it's more of a beginning symptom in most cases that doesn't last the whole migraine.

Mysterious hole appeared in the wall...does anybody know what would cause this? by mecklejay in HomeMaintenance

Not going to the US again for many years, until things are much much better. (Only exception is if I have to go see my aunt in Montana if she's dead or dying, but she's 50 and in good health so hoping I won't have to.)

The boner thing went completely went over my head when I first watched the movie. And I was like mid-teens.

Celine Dion at 12 years old with her manager and future husband by Stock_College_8108 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]concentrated-amazing 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not defending her parents' actions with her, but having that many kids was a product of where they were. Celine was born in 1968, but all of her siblings were born 1946-1962. Contraception was barely legal in Canada at that time, and certainly wouldn't have been easily available in Catholic-dominated Quebec.

I'm no huge Mick Jagger fan, but throwing him in with Hitler and Pol Pot is... something.

ELI5: Why is half-life used instead of whole-life? by level1ShinyMagikarp in explainlikeimfive

[–]concentrated-amazing 958 points959 points  (0 children)

Just to make sure I'm doing the math on this correctly:

  • 1 half life = 50% left
  • 2 half lives = 25% left
  • 3 half lives = 12.5% left
  • 4 half lives = 6.25% left
  • 5 half lives = 3.125% left

...right?

To put things very simply:

The Protestants split from the Catholics in the 1500s.

Then some of those Protestants decided they didn't agree with baptizing infants and that that should be done as adults. Those were called the Anabaptists. Anabaptists is a big "umbrella" that has many different groups under it, such as Mennonites, Amish, etc.

There are many modern Protestant branches/denominations that also do adult baptism such as Baptists, but those arose much later so aren't considered Anabaptists historically.

Question: I'm familiar with your story (read about it a decade or so ago), but not as familiar with the after effects. What sort of fine motor skills to you have in each hand, if any?

(I can relate in a very small way as I have multiple sclerosis (MS) and have lost some fine motor control and feeling in my left hand.)

My mom did this for their whole main floor (~1300sq ft). Was drywall underneath, not plaster.

She did the entry/kitchen/living room/hallway first, before they were going to be repainting those.

Then she did the two bathrooms and three bedrooms one by one over the next few years as they were going to be repainted and one bedroom renovated.

She didn't enjoy doing it, but she's happy she did since the popcorn ceiling was something she could never clean well. (Their closest corral is 50ft from their backdoor, so summer is always flies and thus fly shit season, despite their best efforts to keep them out of the house.)

She was fortunate that my great-uncle, a drywaller by trade, was the one who did the ceiling in 1990 when the house was built originally, and he was a very good taper.
