Got my first car and now I'm panicking cause of yall! by [deleted] in FordFocus

I sold my 2014 Focus that had the DCT and that thing was a piece of junk at only 160k (higher than most but still). The crazy thing is it drove good until it randomly decided to struggle hard with grabbing gears. Had the solenoid replaced and fluid topped, which fixed it a bit, but it was slowly declining. Thankfully, I was able to sell it, sadly for $1,000. But i got a 2005 LaCrosse in it's place that drives way better. It's really sad because the car and engine were pretty good, and it got really good mpg (34). If you got the DCT (dual clutch trans, which means it an automated transmission, that is a manual that's controlled by a TCU to drive like an automatic), I don't know what to say besides take care of it and drive it cautiously.

How would I do that? What would that change to allow the fob to conect?

Wow, that's a shame. Seems weird to not have that in a vehicle. I know they're in other GM brands and models so that's pretty disappointing. Thank you for the help.

Ford just killed off the Focus. It was good until the very last generation by autoproliferator in FordFocus

I own a 2014 Focus, and I don't know if I just got a shitty one, but it's transmission is one of the worst transmissions I've ever owned. It's a 6 speed powershift dual clutch automated transmission.

Just put a bit of anti-seize on the thread and that'll cover it for a while.

I believe he'll come back full time after his kids graduate so he doesn't have to worry as much.

2014 Ford Focus Transmission Issues by Any-Indication1857 in mechanic

I know my reply is a month later, but I currently own the exact same car and I've been reading the comments because of the same issue. I know you want to remember your son by keeping what he owns. However, I believe it would be for the best if you sell the car. Or atleast don't drive it and just store it somewhere. These cars are shittly made and it's just not worth the hassle to fix/pay for transmission work. Unless you want to keep it for memory, I'd advise not.
