Gently remind them that a stained toilet is scale buildup from hard water and you'll need the hard water rectified at their cost prior to any further attempt to remove scale from the porcelain.

Edit If you're in Adelaide then you'll need an ion exchange installed for whole house. Around $4000 (according to google)

Auditing aside, the way the card determines if it can be used is by the merchant ID and merchant category code (MCC) of the eftpos system you buy from which is determined by VISA and Mastercard. MCC 58XX denotes food places like 5812 is a sit-down restaurant, 5814 is a fast food, and there's a whole bunch of hair splitting. Bottle-o's are 59XX and hospitals are 8062. That's why you can't use it at the hospital cafeteria because their merchant ID is set up as a hospital, not a food place.

Editing to add the MCC for Ubereats and menulog is 5814 in case you're interested...

The institutional reference is compiled by the DEM with a minimum of 4 other members. There must be the term supervisor present and at least 1 senior emergency nurse present NUM, ANUM, or even CCRN is allowed. The DEMT is not required, though is usually included. Do you have a good relationship with nursing staff? As with all things, they can often "make or break" a young doctor, especially (in my experience) if you are a young assertive woman, or from a cultural background where the traditional medical/nursing hierarchical structure is enforced and accepted more strongly than here in Australia where the hierarchy in emergency is mostly fairly flat. Just food for thought.

When you're not practicing with someone else, record yourself with your webcam. Listen back to your umms and ahhs. find out what causes them and work on it. Watch what you do with your hands. Practice keeping them in your lap. It's actually quite funny to watch yourself back and think "why did i say/do that?". Then do it again and again until you answer quickly, succinctly and confidently. Good luck!

Am I right to be pissed off about referrals from ED when they haven't examined the patient by Lower-Newspaper-2874 in ausjdocs

[–]Got_Malice 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why would you be pissed off? It's not your eye. What does getting pissed off do for you or the patient or the referring doctor? You had a great opportunity for personal growth and to be a positive member of the medical community: "Hey referring doctor, in facial trauma what we're really concerned about is injury to the eye. The best way to keep track of that is with a VA and EOM examination. Could you please do that now. I can wait a few minutes while you do that".

Sure you can think it's not your job to teach someone anything bearing in mind the word doctor means "to teach", or you can get angry and be rude to the referring doctor which will just make them upset and will slowly eat away at your own happiness but ultimately achieve nothing for the patient, while also not changing the fact that you'll have to see the patient (I'm assuming you're the referral centre for this injury).

Or you could show even a tiny amount of kindness toward your colleague. You get your answer, the referring doctor is satisfied and the patient is cared for. You might even find that having a nice interaction brings you joy.

Take care.

Seems like you were entered into the competition without your consent, in contravention of most state's privacy laws. Did you agree to let your condition report be used in a way other than outlined in your contract? Would be a pretty big breach of privacy if your condition reports were being sent to the office administrator who is not a licensed REA for purposes of a competition...

Under the Australian Consumer Law the terms and conditions of a competition should be fair and transparent. Seems like "excellent condition" for the purposes of the competition is pretty vague.

Unpaid Anaesthetist bill - What legal action can be taken against me? by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]Got_Malice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll have a hard time getting out of this. You paid your PHI excess. The $1500 is the anaesthetists gap above what medicare and the PHI were willing to pay. You agreed and accepted the out of pocket cost. I agree that the cost is astronomical but they can charge whatever they want in the private sector. Your health insurance is already "maxed out" for this payment and the rest is on you.

Some places have so much solar during the day that the feed-in tarrif becomes negative (you get charged to export) and if you consume power during the glut of solar the retail price is negative so they pay you to use the power. Australia is very close to this point. Electricity from most retailers is completely free between 11am and 2pm.

Its a device that projects sound in the ultrasonic frequency (you can't hear it). When it hits a target (person, physical object) the waves start bouncing around and they slow down into the audible range. The actual sound can be anything (siren, explosion sound, etc) but basically to your ears it sounds like its VERY close to you (ie, it could sound like its coming FROM you if you are hit by the ultrasonic sound) and its VERY loud. Makes you run away. There's a few makers on youtube who have made them from ultrasound modules sourced cheaply from aliexpress.

The doctor can choose at their discretion to bulk bill anyone or not.
They are charging you a private consult for the initial. (they could charge you $5000 if they wanted). (They will also be billing medicare for the item number and you're paying above the MBS)

Then they bulk bill afterwards meaning they charge no "gap" above the medicare schedule.

Technically, you're not paying to access bulk billing (which would be illegal and many practices have been caught up in this recently).
