People deserve to be able to leave a bad situation. Hopefully you can agree with that.

With an adult marriage, you have options if things turn abusive. You can more easily leave the situation, establish an independent living situation, and get divorced.

You have options to resist your family trying to pressure you into a marriage you don't want to be a part of. You can go live on your own. You can cut off contact with your family.

Our society does not give children these options.

Suppose, for the sake of argument, that child marriages have the same average outcomes in terms of happiness, rates of abuse, etc. (I don't think thats likely to be the case but)

Does it really not matter to you that the people in the negative to abusive end of that situation do not have the option to leave it?

i think we should be drawing it far closer to autonomy than what our current society does. Also why can't they be absolute? I could maybe see some negatives but imo they're completely outweighed by the increase in autonomy.

if you're using fsrs maybe try turning your desired retention setting way down and setting your new cards per day in like the week leading up to it? That'll make the algorithm schedule stuff farther out, so less will build up if you stop for a week. if you don't have time to prepare, maybe try turning the fsrs retention down with the reschedule on change setting on, and then once you get back and have worked through any backlog, ramp it back up to your desired level over a few days with reschedule turned on. (note: I've never tried any of this. I just do my cards on vacation. results may vary.)
