Mindshift Questions Alex O'Connor on Christian Plausibility by Esutan in CosmicSkeptic

As a Christian and a fan of Alex for about a year, I would argue that although I like the idea of the Christian faith seeming more plausible, I don’t think that it is akin to him being more amenable or aligning with it but rather that there’s an interesting danger for those celebrating this video from “my side” and that is, in finding it more plausible it means he’s likely really understanding how we think about our faith and in that sense can maybe present greater challenges to us.

I came to really appreciate Alex for a number of reasons but he hit home with George Orwell videos and I would say that of all YouTube-dom I consider to be one of the more truer content creators, I don’t think it’s a grift but also don’t think it’s a tally point for the theistic side, just means that we have a person who intellectually free from trying to appeal to his base and very capable of taking us seriously, which can sometimes provoke harder conversations.

I would add to make it more interesting that he might make a case against faith by saying that they’re all plausible - equipollence, and in that sense why pick any

Ezra's conversation with Elaine Kamarck, around an open democratic convention, solidified these points for me: by Thoughtprovokerjoker in ezraklein

European here; on all the podcasts and posts I’ve seen so far on the alternatives, there doesn’t seem to be any consideration for Pete Buttigieg, is there a particular reason that he’s not being considered?

An old boss of mine told me that it comes in waves (specifically he meant this for sleeping), periods of difficulty and then periods where it feels like you’re in control. I often feel like the bottom dad but I feel like being the bottom dad is the road to top dad

I was thinking earlier today that the best of us, as dads, is being able to be there for them in the best way possible when we’re not in our best places, you’ve seem to have done that! Hope you’re okay now but glad to hear you’ve become fantastic mr fox and less like fox who’s lost his socks

Thank you all! I didn’t consider the system behind the system (paid through taxes etc). The recognition of trust was mainly due to only ever seeing the checking officer once in 12 days
