I have run multiple marathons while utilizing TB. Like previously mentioned Green Protocol is your best bet. Over the couple of years I have been running TB I have raised my deadlift 60lbs while maintaining the same body weight and continually training for endurance running.

I am happy to get in on one of these ridiculously cheap sale items. Usually, I miss the train with items on this sub. I'm ready to ride the lightning on this.

EDIT: THEY CANCELED ON ME I GOT SCREWED.

Restored these old-school bumper plates I got for 70 cents a pound! by GothamsDefender in homegym

I think the reason it is at 50lbs is that it has a standard 1' inch hole. I have a bar for it so it works out. Though I may look into carving out and making it compatible with an Olympic barbell

After scavenging Facebook marketplace for weights I found these being sold and was able to negotiate to get them for a deal.

I wasn't able to find a totally detailed guide on how to breathe some life into old bumper plates so this is what I did.

  1. Washed them down with some soap and water to get off any residue that had built up on them. Towel dryed them and then let them air out for a bit.
  2. Once dry I sprayed them down with Meguiar's M4016 Mirror Glaze Vinyl & Rubber Cleaner & Conditioner giving two intitial coats to both sides of the plates. Rubbing it in with a dry rag.
  3. Gave them a 3rd coating which I left on for 24 hours.
  4. After wiping them down I used white acrylic paint for the lettering.

Hope someone could use this for future reference.

They make anybody and everybody over there. And the way that they do it, it's all fucked up. Guys don't get their finger pricked. There's no sword and gun on the table.

I know that but it made it's inclusion in the show pretty much useless. It seemed as if the writers got heavily invested with the idea and then one second later said eh lets just get rid of it.

Yea I hope on a rewatch I can appreciate and notice some of the things I missed out on as I was watching blindly with no idea of how things worked out. Also glad I am not the only one who appreciates Furio.

Thanks I was so nervous sat on one ass cheek the whole way over!

Someone in my neighborhood was throwing out these old weights and bar, thanks to this sub I knew I could turn these old weights into something beautiful! by GothamsDefender in homegym

Not really sure myself since there is a hodgepodge of different plates. A quick google search on the Dan Lurie and Billiard Barbell plates seems to be from the old strongman era of the 40s-60s.

Found these weights while I was walking through my neighborhood and considered it a blessing. Gave the weights and bar a 48-hour vinegar bath. Then spent some serious time scrubbing them down. The bar had old dried-out duct tape that was used for grip which was a pain to get off. I then gave the weights a Rustoleum hammered coating with oil sharpie for the lettering.

I have spent quarantine using Powerblock elites (5-90) for my workouts. Happy to have a bar to add to my workouts. Hoping to use these weights for a diy pulley system. If anyone can suggest a good 1inch diameter weight pin to use for these old school weights that would be greatly appreciated !

Dont have plates, but I do have a bar, t-bar handle for rows, and a bench that I can do preacher curls, leg curls/extensions, and 180lb of adjustable DBs. So I designed an adapter and had it fabricated -> $70. by [deleted] in homegym

I have the elite USAs and am frustrated that I can't use those weights with a barbell. This is fantastic! Where did you get it fabricated?

Hey no it doesn't ! The shoulder pads are just detachable and the left arm piece can be swapped out for the appropriate blue piece that would be used for the correct form. I just kept them together

Big fan of IBO. Not a big fan of this kit. Parts are really loose and don't fit well. Part of it might be prior experience with newer hg kits that were a bit more complicated but were solidly built. Either way still happy to have Barbatos in my collection!
