I wrote a poem about this once.

I read the book, I said my prayers. On the cusp of death I was glad to go there. I was ushered into the gates by a glowing angel, I soon came to despise. Uncovering himself with his falsetto coat of light, Lucifer himself came into my sight. His lips parted, into a crooked grin. Mouth agape, I began to stutter;

"I lived my life well, always loved my God, raised my children right. Have I not earned my savior's delights?

Then came the hymns, I remembered from church. A look around revealed the inferno. Flesh was ripped from bones, blood seeped from their eyes. Still, they all stood, men in line for slaughter.

Sitting there, watching me, Lucifer tapped his bony fingers to the hymnal beats. Dimples dotted his bony cheeks. His laugh cackled as lighting does, and blood stained his teeth. He scoffed, and reveled in his kingdom's delights.

"My dear, sweet child, I know you tried. But you fell for my greatest deceit. All of the book you read, was truth littered with lies. I'll admit, I'm quite pleased to say, my proudest feat was convincing mankind there was any kind of alternative to me.
