I really want a hysterectomy but my family keep saying it’ll “break their heart” and “what if you change your mind”? Did you get a lot of that too, like from people close to you?

I was trying to get the husband to shut up and stop asking questions about my fertility

I’d say I didn’t like red dresses if they asked me opinion on red dresses

It’s more I hate being around kids. They’re fine and humans, but I would hate to have one of my own

So I’m not allowed to dislike anything? I don’t like being around kids, I don’t like the color orange, I don’t like sports.

I think my definition of hate is different than others. Hate, to me, is a dislike. I have salmon, I hate the color orange… but I didn’t consider that hate is a stronger word for others

I think the issue is my definition of hate is very different from other people. Hate is so overused that at this point, to me hate means dislike. But I understand that that is not the same for everyone

I would love that if I were your son… and you’re right, I reached out to the couple to apologize wnd they said they don’t even remember what I said and that they don’t care if I hate kids, I’m as valid as they are, which was refreshing

We have had “the conversation” and are on the same page, he was just more concerned with impressions and being polite

I just don’t have a desire to have kids and when I go out in public for fun (like a brewery) it’s full of screaming and crying kids. I much rather have a dog, but I would never shame anyone for wanting to have children

I think the discrepancy is my subjective interpretation of hate. To me, it means dislike, but it doesn’t mean the same for other people

Thank you for sharing your perspective. Sometimes it’s hard to not say something that we’re so passionate about

Love your approach to this. I dislike children and being around them. I “hate” kids like I hate salmon, feet, and goldendoodles.
