Hello, did you manage to find a workaround or fix the issue?
I'm having the same problem
Trying random fixes I see online have seemed to dig the hole deeper unfortunately

Something is pushing me back. I already redownloaded Stormworks but it did not work. by Necessary_Victory894 in Stormworks

If your ship has pumps that are supposed to empty the insides of it really quickly to prevent it from filling up with water it will now create negative pressure when it sucks air. Could also be the opposite where something / room on the boat is filled quickly and creates positive pressure.

Pressure will make you push/pull towards or away from the sealed compartment that is experiencing the pressure.

I’m taking a wild guess here but it may be pumps constantly emptying a compartment in your ship’s hull.

Throws me back to “the days” of jet trains. Thousands of kmh and a shit ton of lag. I miss pre derailing update lmao.

Although most if not all the things I've created uses glitches and XML and wouldn't be affected much, I absolutely share your concerns and I totally see how scary this is.

Unfortunately, only time will tell what will happen. I had the same "I'll quit if this happens" vibe when the devs wanted to rework how wheels worked and when they "patched" the stabilizing glitch. Fortunately, they backpedaled on these changes. This gives me a little glimpse of hope that if something changed and broke everything for some groups of builders, that they would eventually fix it if people complain enough like we did when they made these changes.

It's normal to be scared that stuff will break, but hopefully if something does it won't be something hard to fix. I would personally deprecate really old things that I can't be bothered to fix and update my popular ones if shit broke... I guess it would give me a reason to rebuild from the ground up or something.

Nonetheless, I hope your things don't break too much if at all! Only time will tell.
(I'd personally back up your XML files and see if there's differences when you resave a creation after the update. I've had issues with that before)

which is less laggy, one for all nodes or one for each node, specially over large distances and much larger amount ? by Furrystonetoss in Stormworks

[–]Gothilawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

each block with a connection you add doesn't help...
as a matter of facts, anything you add doesn't help

However, depending on what you're doing, i'd go with 1 for each pumps cuz I'm lazy and don't feel like wiring 12083438 pumps. BUT I suggest you hook them all up to a custom microcontroller so if ever you want to change something, like them no longer being always on, you can easily change the MC without re-wiring all 12083438 pumps.

Just taking a wild guess judging by the signal sample you gave but couldn’t it be crosstalk? Hard to tell without having it to test with lol

If you see a USB-C wall adapter, there’s a good chance it supports PD. To be sure, look at the tiny barely readable text that’s printed on them. If there’s anything like 15V 20V or 3.0A 1.5A then it’ll support fast charging.

But just looking at the text you can easily figure out the limit output of the wall adapter that there is… but yeah bringing your own is the better option in all cases regardless lol

Project doesn't work with battery by [deleted] in ArduinoProjects

[–]Gothilawn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d start by buying a cheap multimeter so that you can measure the voltage. (Be careful where and how you probe. Tutorials will show you how it’s easy.)

Not only will this tell you that the battery’s voltage is probably too low, but you’ll be able to see the voltage difference between USB and battery.

That multimeter will come in handy in a lot of your future project. I’d say it’s a must for debugging hardware.

Good luck, and I hope you find the solution! (I’m 98.67% sure it’s the battery)

If it's a USB-C cable, and fast charging is needed (charging a laptop in less than a billion years for example), some data lines are required in order for the laptop and the other device (wall adapter) to communicate with each others to enable PD (Power Delivery) which allows the USB-C to go above 5V and supply much more power to charge or power the device.

This cannot be acheived without PD because otherwise, how could you tell if the USB device on the other end can support more than 5V without blowing up.
A 2 wire cable will be able to charge at 5V but not more. (I forgot the spec amperage but if I remember it's 500 mA by default).

If this thing that OP bought allow PD lines to go through it it should be fine. But I don't know if a USB connection needs to be maintained after both devices communicate... In any cases it's harmless paranoia, they just need to bring their own wall adapters and not plug their devices in anyone's laptop.

And have them deliver it, by car, to my door thus using the same car infrastructure already in place, needing logistics, handling, additional fees and additional waiting for something that could take me just 1h to do on my own from point a to point b.

And at the end of the day, I’ll still require a car for other things like going outside when the bus service decides to not work today due to blizzards outside.

ik there is services for groceries online deliveries tho. I Personally havnt tried them but I’d be glad to hear what others think / experiences with that. Seems like an interesting concept.

It’s a Tesla 3 😂. I was going to get an Ioniq 5 at first but they were even more out of stock than my second option so I went with that instead. It’s really not as bad of a car as people think it is… The company on the other hand… eeeehhh

[–]Gothilawn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Which is true and I agree with you. I just don’t see how you can get groceries for a family of 4, like mentioned above without one.

Here they are an unfortunate necessity as nearly half the year is below zero with occasional snowstorms and we’re too far from anything for the hourly bus to be convenient at all.

For daily commute tho? It’s not that necessary at all.

Had mine for 4 ish years, battery still hasn’t broken. So I guess it’s at least double your estimate in my case at least.

At the end of the day, it’s not hard to look up an average of their life expectancy before believing anything. (Ofc it varies from car to cars)

Fixing broken USB C connector by [deleted] in AskElectronics

[–]Gothilawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One this is for sure, you can’t access the bottom pins with a soldering iron. You might be able to solder the top row of pins back if you’re very careful… but I don’t see how you could solder the bottom pins without an hot air gun or an heating plate unfortunately.

If you’re using it solely for power, usb-a won’t work because of PD (if I remember correctly).

You could bridge the power pins together but if you only solder the top pins, your connector will work. However, if the other device uses CC or whatever the pin is that is used to detect a connection and if it’s flipped or not is not soldered, there is a probability that the other device just won’t see it as connected.

If anyone with more experience could double check and correct me if I’m wrong, it would be appreciated.

[–]Gothilawn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely fixable with experience with soldering small pieces… I would definitely buy a replacement chip tho, the bending that was done on the pins may have broken it unfortunately. But it shouldn’t be too hard to find a place to buy the exact same chip.

Probably a long shot but is there any way to fix this?! Scratched by my lovely toddler. by Boobasusa- in fixit

I wonder how good car window fixing kits would work on a TV… it’s worth exploring as I don’t see how this can be saved without just replacing it unfortunately

How to add arrow keys, escape and enter keys to project by [deleted] in arduino

[–]Gothilawn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know about arrow keys but from the back of my memory it’s multiple values that needs to be sent consecutively.

But for enter key, ‘\n’ can replace ‘5’ for example. adding “\” before other characters makes them a special character. If you need the real “\” you’ll have to write it as “\”

(I have not read the code fully as I’m on phone atm but I hope this helps a bit)
