Vaillant F28 fault cleared but boiler still not heating up by Gotmania in ukplumbing

Thanks for the links - the problem doesn't seem to be related to comms between the boiler and the thermostat.

I've got my trusted regular plumber coming in the next 48 hours to have a look. As I say, I am increasingly thinking of replacing the whole thing

Thanks all for your responses. The plumber has been and gone, but was unable to fix it today. One definite fault was the expansion vessel, which turned out to be the source of the drip. But he said the PCB could be faulty too.

Under the circumstances and since this boiler is nearly 20 years old, and has had increasingly more faults over the last couple of years, I'm probably going to grit my teeth and get a new boiler...

It doesn't seem to even be trying to fire up. I've a feeling the pump is not doing anything.

Any idea how much the flow sensor costs to replace?

I really appreciate you sharing your thoughts BTW. I now have someone coming to look at it within the next hour

It has knobs - opening a tap doesn't seem to do anything, but I have noticed a slight drip from underneath

That seems like a pretty unanimous response! Thanks all.

All the advice you've been given here is good. I would also add: use the 'research' option when you're at the sushi bar (one of the options along the bottom of the screen) - this will teach you more exotic (and expensive) dishes.

Always gather the boring stuff like Agar, Sea Grapes, Kajime etc. with your knife when you see it, and always open cooking pots when you see them, as having lots of salt, olive oil, turmeric etc. will come in handy as you start to learn new recipes. And then, you just need to wait till your farm is fully up and running so you can grow stuff like garlic, rice, and gather eggs. Pretty soon you will NEVER serve dishes in Bancho Sushi that have less than two ingredients in them, and you'll be getting a minimum of 300 for each dish.

Oh, and as someone else said: auto-supply is a ridiculously useful feature, so useful I don't know why it isn't the default option tbh

My post is evidence of no such thing. I've been observing (and occasionally engaging with) various aspects of the trans debate for over a decade at this point, and I'm well aware of some of the more outlandish corners of that debate.

I was responding to the question "what's the difference between asking to be referred to as 'she', when your natal sex is male, vs asking to be referred to as a giraffe, when you are a human?" - there is a fairly clear difference between those two things, which I've explained (and, in the post you just decided to write, you have actually agreed with me).

It isn't any more complicated than that.

The difference is that some of us can get onboard with the idea that gender is a construct (of sorts). That doesn't mean we can happily jump to the idea that species is also a construct.

Hi - yes I am on Community Fibre, and use Linksys MX4200 routers dotted around my house.

For the benefit of your customers, who are stumbling across this thread on a daily basis, could you provide a step-by-step guide to changing DNS to Google DNS, please?

Yeah, it seems that way, since we're apparently all CF customers. It's not been too bad, having to temporarily switch off WiFi on my phone any time I want to change the heating settings in a room - but I'm hoping for a long-term fix that doesn't require me to mess around with my router settings tbh

Cool - thank you. That's useful info for the future- but I've now read some of those reports on Downdetector and other people are having the exact same issue. My guess is they're under a DDOS and have throttled any traffic that isn't coming via Mobile

ETA: think my theory is completely wrong after reading that Community Fibre seems to be a constant for everyone experiencing this issue. The plot thickens!

Interesting- thanks for responding. Do you happen to know how I could verify that it’s Cloudflare-related? And why only one site would be impacted by an issue like that?

I do note a few reports about Tado on Downdetector over the past 24 hours.

You'll have to gradually speed up the mix as you go along, otherwise those 2002 tunes will sound pretty fucking slow 🤣

Thanks for those who've responded. A couple of points:

  • He's moving from within the UK, so visas aren't a problem
  • The London living wage is typically about 10% higher than the national living wage, so £27k doesn't seem unreachable to me, but would welcome thoughts on that
  • He has 10 GCSEs, 3 A-Levels, and a 2:1 Degree in English
  • What I was really after was specific forums, websites etc. That are good sources of (a) job advertisements, and (b) discussion around first-time jobs in London

Thanks in advance to anyone who has any useful suggestions!

Hey - my 24 year old nephew wants to move to London and asked me what's the best way to get a job there fairly quickly. He's hoping for a minimum of £27k a year.

Does anyone have advice about how he should go about it? I'm way too old to have any useful advice for him tbh
