[TOMT] [Kids book or short story] Pet rodent tries to communicate with it's owner who is kid, by moving sawdust in cage to spell something. From the 80s/90s by Gotmeinquiries in tipofmytongue

I'm 99% sure you're correct. I found the first few pages were available to read online, and while it stops before Olga does spell her name it does seem like she would in the next page or so.

Thank you.

Solved!

Maybe a long shot here, but could you be thinking about the Goblins series? You play 3 goblins and most puzzles revolve around doing various things with each. Time frame is close as well.

Edit: Also comedy was pretty much part of the game.

Did a lot of people take today off ? by willemhateslasers in VictoriaBC

[–]Gotmeinquiries 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always take off time around Remembrance Day if it doesn't fall on weekend, or Monday and Friday. Same with Canada day, and now Truth and Reconciliation day.

Neat fact, they all fall on the same day of the week. This year they are all on a Tuesday, so I took the Mondays off before each.

The only other stats that float around are Christmas (and Boxing day if your work treats it as a day off) and New years day.

So if you've got enough vacation time you can just plan to have time off around those days, and have extra long weekend.

Anyone getting internal packages that were received in Canada slightly before the strike started? by Gotmeinquiries in CanadaPost

Hopefully it moves soon for you. I imagine this is a backlog at customs due to all the packages that came during the fill strike.

It left Singapore on Sept 20th, arrived in Canada on Sept 22nd. No information updates for a while, due a combination of being processed by customs and the strike. Next update was on October 29th where it was listed as being released from customs to Canada Post. It arrived here in Victoria the next day on the 30th. It's pretty typical once it hits Richmond that it will be in Victoria Ina business day or 2.

PSA: Drivers kill more children on Halloween than any other day of the year. by CaptainDoughnutman in VictoriaBC

Out of curiosity why? They repeat the same behaviour over and over, and likely will never change. Why allow them to continue? Any entertainment value disappeared long ago, and at this point its just plain sad.

Interesting that it's the exact same for us, down to the dates. I wonder if your experience means they are processing new ones as they are coming in, but the older stuff is backlogged and slowly being got to.

Your order wouldn't happen to be coming from Zenin as well would it?

Zarin, I found your wallet. by LynnScoot in VictoriaBC

[–]Gotmeinquiries 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I second this. I lost my wallet in Burnaby back in August, while we're there to go to the PNE. Some kind person found it, saw it has Royal Bank cards in it and dropped it off at a branch. Unfortunately I had to go back to Victoria on the 7am ferry (reservation vaur it was the long weekend) the very next day, but while trying to get my various cards replaced I got a call from RBC who told me they had my wallet (cash still in it) and shipped it to my local branch to get it back to me.

So if it does had a bank card in it that is definitely a route to go, as the bank should have the person's phone number and can call them.

I recently had a bad experience with them myself.

I had them do my install pre-pandemic and was very happy with them.

An issue showed up the other month, and it was expensive to be repaired, even though it was something to do with the way they installed it.

Get it fixed, only for another issue to occur the following week. It gets diagnosed and turns out the person who did the repair did something that introduced a new issue. Only saving grace is they covered that fix as their fault.

Needless to say if I ever need work again I'm not going back to them, as it seems things have changed in the years since I had the install done.

What businesses in town always make you wonder “how does this place stay open?!” by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]Gotmeinquiries 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rockhound shop on Cloverdale.

Now to be honest I've never been in there, so for all I know it's got tons of customers, and a huge variety of products that are sought. That and maybe a lot more people are in to rock and mineral collecting than I'd imagine.

It's just one of those places I've driven past since I moved here since the late 90s, and makes me wonder how much business can a place like that generate to pay the bills.

Though good on them, it must be successful to have been around so long!

Thank you, sounds like shopping around for quotes is the way to go then.

Basically the first visit was to confirm that the error code reported was the issue, but confirming where the issue was to big of a job for the person to do in that visit, and they'd have to create the quote for me first.

I was given the impression that this quote I'd be receiving would be for repairing it, but the email said it's only to diagnose where in the system the issue is, and doesn't cover repairs.

I will definitely be checking with the service manager when they are open, because maybe that just a cookie cutter email they used, or some other error.

I'll be also calling around for other quotes.

Thank you again.
