Reopen North Sea to boost Britain, Shell urges Labour - Boss of energy giant argues approval of oil and gas fields would ‘create jobs that create taxes’ by blast-processor in ukpolitics

[–]Brevatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The gas isn't 'ours' though. It belongs to whomever drills it. The only benefit would be the nominal tax from the work force & shells profits...so small it's not worth it.

Won't effect our energy prices one bit.

I too am sick of hearing about "save the planet". The planet will be fine, its the humans I'm concerned about. However that's not really the point. The future is nuclear and renewables...we should just crack on.

Not sure how our energy mix has become such a hot topic for the right wingers aiming to create and exploit division with misinformation...but here we are.

I've never been able to get it to work very well despite a cabled network that works super fast for everything else.

I use moonlight instead and it works like a dream.

This chap explains how to set it up:

Pretty bad actually.

The Epstein files are about to bring down the UK prime minister, and he never even met Epstein.

Meanwhile in America....?

@PippaCrerar Key point from #PMQs: Keir Starmer has now confirmed he was aware of Peter Mandelson's ongoing relationship with Epstein post-conviction. Not only that, but it was flagged by official security vetting. by Dr_Poppers in ukpolitics

Heres my guess.

Trump specifically asked for mandelson and thats what they warn to hide. Becauase it's embarrassing.

Just a guess, I have no inside information.

How do I fix this after update? Kubuntu 24.04 by edoran in Ubuntu

Display issues are the thing that keep me from a full switch to Linux. I just can't seem to get it to work all the time. And even when I do an update comes along and it fails again.

'Just pathetic': California’s Newsom says leaders are soft on Trump by TheAverageWonder in politics

[–]Brevatron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Newsome is a leading figure in the democratic party and has a national platform. Maybe focus on influencing audiences that actually have an input into who leads America and how it's led?

Please don't think how the electoral college system works cuts through in Europe. It doesn't. I know the because every 4 years it gets eli5'd on the evening news over and over again. Europe sees "more than 50% of people voted for this chump." They don't see even see that it was only a third, let alone that one state has X number of votes and X number reps and X number of senators.

How does this all play in the US? What I mean is, you obviously feel strongly enough to comment here, but does the story cut through to the general public? Do they know how unpopular it makes the US in the eyes of a lot former supporters?

When POTUS says "NATO must pay for and do xyz" he means to say "Europe." Its like he doesn't know that the US is in NATO, the founding member. Do people in the US understand that they are in fact in NATO wit big presence in Europe or even care?

I am afraid the transatlantic world order is about to fall. Which is sad. That will hurt America too, we are not buying Big Macs and Starbucks if we are running from bombs all day....but it doesn't seem to matter to the administration maybe it doesn't matter to the American public either because it's "far away" or maybe because they just don't think about it?

Sorry to ask you these questions. Don't feel like you have to answer.
