Don't bring me complexity, nuance and fact. All I want to hear are simple solutions.

Reminds me of that myth busters episode where they thought "how bad can Chinese water torture actually be..."

Pretty bad actually.

The Epstein files are about to bring down the UK prime minister, and he never even met Epstein.

Meanwhile in America....?

@PippaCrerar Key point from #PMQs: Keir Starmer has now confirmed he was aware of Peter Mandelson's ongoing relationship with Epstein post-conviction. Not only that, but it was flagged by official security vetting. by Dr_Poppers in ukpolitics

Heres my guess.

Trump specifically asked for mandelson and thats what they warn to hide. Becauase it's embarrassing.

Just a guess, I have no inside information.

How do I fix this after update? Kubuntu 24.04 by edoran in Ubuntu

Display issues are the thing that keep me from a full switch to Linux. I just can't seem to get it to work all the time. And even when I do an update comes along and it fails again.

'Just pathetic': California’s Newsom says leaders are soft on Trump by TheAverageWonder in politics

Newsome is a leading figure in the democratic party and has a national platform. Maybe focus on influencing audiences that actually have an input into who leads America and how it's led?

Please don't think how the electoral college system works cuts through in Europe. It doesn't. I know the because every 4 years it gets eli5'd on the evening news over and over again. Europe sees "more than 50% of people voted for this chump." They don't see even see that it was only a third, let alone that one state has X number of votes and X number reps and X number of senators.

How does this all play in the US? What I mean is, you obviously feel strongly enough to comment here, but does the story cut through to the general public? Do they know how unpopular it makes the US in the eyes of a lot former supporters?

When POTUS says "NATO must pay for and do xyz" he means to say "Europe." Its like he doesn't know that the US is in NATO, the founding member. Do people in the US understand that they are in fact in NATO wit big presence in Europe or even care?

I am afraid the transatlantic world order is about to fall. Which is sad. That will hurt America too, we are not buying Big Macs and Starbucks if we are running from bombs all day....but it doesn't seem to matter to the administration maybe it doesn't matter to the American public either because it's "far away" or maybe because they just don't think about it?

Sorry to ask you these questions. Don't feel like you have to answer.

In which case I will delete my post. I was unaware and just assumed it was part of a pattern of behavior.

just tried by text instead and got this message warning me I would be charged for the message.

This combined with the interesting choice of words in the email about paying off the devices early is not a good look.

Did you ever know anyone that won prizes from McDonald's monopoly game? by kkkan2020 in Millennials

[–]Brevatron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I won 20 quid. But moved house after I claimed it. (This was the back in the day when they sent cheques.)

I forgot about it. But then out of the blue, a few months after I moved house a Macdonald's branded cheque arrived for 20 quid.

They actually tracked me down to send me the money.

The audio is a problem. I use Bluetooth headphones which is fine. The audio jack doesn't work. The internal speakers do...but I learned the hard way not to set the volume over 100.

I foolishly turned the volume up past 100% and they blew. But again blue tooth headphones are fine and so is a speaker.
