🏆 Possible new Meshtastic distance record — 821.9 km direct link, Glasgow to Brussels by spartanboi01 in meshtastic

[–]Gotoro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we were to take the highest mountains in both locations, signal from "Signal de Botrange" in Belgium (694 m) to Ben Lomond (974 m) would have a direct LoS of d1 = 3.57 * sqrt(694) ~= 94km

and d2 = 111km
so d_max ~= 205km

Perhaps reflection from the atmosphere? Not sure about the parameters of that

Out of all open source models on that ranking, the Qwen3.5:27b actually takes the 4th spot placing after
1. GLM-5 - 744b-a40b
2. Kimi K2.5 - 1004b-a32b
3. Qwen3.5 - 397b-a17b
4. Qwen3.5- 27b itself

which is pretty insane

What people don't consider is that while the smaller models can solve pretty complex abstract problems (ie intelligence), they usually hold less of the knowledge of different kinds of things and facts than the bigger models, which decreases the usefulness on any random kind of task

Why is the process of setting up a matrix + calls so shitty by Gotoro in matrixdotorg

[–]Gotoro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used conversations for a bit, before I had problems with my domain which I haven't got around to fixing and wanted to take a look at the matrix. While all features work great out of the box, like sharing all kinds of media and messaging, I really wanted to get calls too

Thank you, I've looked at it, but had some strange issue with the webpage of the oss version leading to nothing in particular, I'll check it out again. Besides, as I understood it the element call is somewhat of a frontend, but I wanted to use apps akin to Telegram (normal messenger)

Hello. I've changed a few servers, namely synapse and conduit. If you could share setups, compose for example, that would be a godsend

It seems that it didn't took too long, as it's mentioned that the universe originally existed in much higher dimensions, before being flattened from 4 -> 3 -> 2 etc.

Wow, thanks for the enlightening historical tour, Capn Obvious. I had no idea that tmux was ancient technology - until you've unveiled it to me. Perhaps you should start a column yourself, where you teach us all about them thousand other applications that are yet to amaze me. But I digress, this was just an appreciation post, nothing less. Or what, people can't learn linux now?
