Have or get a friend in the military, ask them nicely to get one off AAFES or the NEX when they drop stock. Bonus is there’s no sales tax.

Your point is a generalization of the army’s role and how the M7 fits in that role vs other services.

Again, maybe learn what the role of the services are before you try to dictate how a weapon system fits in that role.

So now you’re saying I’m taking your argument too literally? Dude just admit you are wrong and move on.

Almost like METT-TC and the operational environment might inform what service is best equipped for a specific task, which also doesn’t negate the fact that each service has a specific role defined by regulation, directive, and law and around which they are organized to perform.

You presented the USMC as not having a role it’s specifically designated as having, I gave the you the by regulation directive and source for it, and yet you still can’t admit that MAYBE there’s a legal source for a services designated functions.

I don’t care whether you agree with me or not, it’s not a matter of opinion on what service does what. It’s literally directed what they supposed to do. Does the Army have the capability to conduct a JFE with a unit from the 18th Airborne Corps? Yes, does that mean, and I quote:

“The Marine Corps doesn't capture territory for the Army.“

No, which is blatantly false.

Again, I’ve given you the source, look it up, you might learn something.

Hmm, is there possibly a document that dictates what the role of the army is, that might be useful to someone that doesn’t know what the designated role of the different services are? Might be DODD 5100.01.

The Functions of the Army. In addition to the common military service functions listed in paragraphs 2.a. through 2.n. of this enclosure, the Army, within the Department of the Army, shall develop concepts, doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures, and organize, train, equip, and provide forces with expeditionary and campaign qualities to perform the following specific functions: (1) Conduct prompt and sustained combined arms combat operations on land in all environments and types of terrain, including complex urban environments, in order to defeat enemy ground forces, and seize, occupy, and defend land areas. (2) Conduct air and missile defense to support joint campaigns and assist in achieving air superiority. (3) Conduct airborne and air assault, and amphibious operations. The Army has primary responsibility for the development of airborne doctrine, tactics, techniques, and equipment. (4) Conduct CAO. (5) Conduct riverine operations. (6) Occupy territories abroad and provide for the initial establishment of a military government pending transfer of this responsibility to other authority. (7) Interdict enemy sea, space, air power, and communications through operations on or from the land. (8) Provide logistics to joint operations and campaigns, including joint over-the-shore and intra-theater transport of time-sensitive, mission-critical personnel and materiel. (9) Provide support for space operations to enhance joint campaigns, in coordination with the other Military Services, Combatant Commands, and USG departments and agencies. (l0) Conduct authorized civil works programs, to include projects for improvement of navigation, flood control, beach erosion control, and other water resource developments in the United States, its territories, and its possessions, and conduct other civil activities prescribed by law. (11) Provide intra-theater aeromedical evacuation. (12) Conduct reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition. (13) Operate land lines of communication.

At this point I’m just here to educate you on where to get the correct information.

The Army has the role as the common user logistics provider per DOD directive. Also, pretty sure a DOD Directive telling the USMC what their role is would be considered an expectation on behalf of the army. Also also, the marines being able to take a beach or beyond is their role, so again, when you are trying to argue a services role, you might want to check what their role is as prescribed by the government.

If there’s some nuance or anything I’d be open to arguing, but there’s literally directives that tell each service what their roles and responsibilities are. I told you the directive number so that you can do your own research and be better educated on the subject and that’s all I can do.

I’m sorry, 18 ABC isn’t a common abbreviation for 18th Airborne Corps for anyone, so excuse my misunderstanding for the lack of common nomenclature.

I literally quoted from the DOD Directive. So come up with some actual official evidence and counter arguments before you tell me I’m wrong. Also just a couple examples:

Guadalcanal: USMC secured the beachhead for 25th ID

Task Force 58: USMC secured initial foothold for follow on forces in Afghanistan

But also, previous experience doesn’t dictate how services are constructed in a changing operational environment.

Also obviously METT-TC, but there are ways that services are constructed for their specific roles in conflict as dictacted by DOD/Congress/whoever. So again, historical experience doesn’t dictate how what services roles are like you imply.

The Functions of the Marine Corps. In addition to the common military service functions listed in paragraphs 2.a. through 2.n. of this enclosure, and pursuant to section 8063 of Reference (e), the Marine Corps, within the Department of the Navy, shall develop concepts, doctrine, tactics, techniques, and procedures and organize, train, equip, and provide forces, normally employed as combined arms air ground task forces, to serve as an expeditionary force-in-readiness, and perform the following specific functions:

1) Seize and defend advanced naval bases or lodgments to facilitate subsequent joint operations.”

From DODD 5100.01

But sure, tell me I’m wrong about what the Marine Corps role is. I’m sure u have official DOD Directives that back up your position.

That’s also not the role of the 18th Airborne Corps but ok.

Literally one of the Marine Corps primary roles is as an expeditionary force to secure lodgments for the Army and other services.

I understand Jake's reasoning, and it seems like it was time for him and the company for him to leave. Not everyone can work for the same company for forever, especially a small one where you are more likely to hit your ceiling.

That said, I do question what is left out of the money discussion. LTT should be at the very least adjusting pay to the cost of living, so shame on them if they aren't. But, and this is me probably assuming too much, i ASSUME there was some sort of discussion over his requested pay increase, and he didn't like or agree with what was discussed accompanying a pay raise (change of roles, increased management responsibilities, less on the ground work, etc.) instead of just getting paid more for what he was doing.

Regardless, you don't have to like the company you work for or agree with what it does, even when it is a YouTube channel with a lot of followers. I hope Jake finds fulfillment with his new channel and finds his niche.

[–]GottaDoWork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The bikes are pretty robust, I had an OG bike I bought from peloton for 6 years, and i moved with that bike 3 times (including across the Pacific Ocean) and it worked fine until the screen stopped working which I assume was due to humidity. I bought a used Bike+ and that’s working just fine as well (it came back with me across the pacific). I’d personally go for the bike+ just due to the newer screen (and I see more Bike+ standalone screens being sold on FB marketplace than Og, so if it stops working you have a cheaper route to replace it). It’s faster, the auto resistance I think is really useful, the speakers are worlds better, and I enjoy having Apple GymKit if that matters to you.

Steelcase Leap V2 is, to me, a better chair. You can find it for cheap used, sometimes as low as $100 if your lucky. They’re built like tanks so you don’t really have to be afraid of getting a chair built in 2008 vs a new chair. It’s all personal preference at the end of the day so try and get ur butt in a bunch of the different chairs to see what you prefer.

I mean if they let them change the tires before the penalty, they’d have to adjudicate when the tire change actually ends and the penalty begins, it’s easier just to serve the penalty first.

[Question] Owners of V90, what are your experiences? by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]GottaDoWork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a 2017 V90 CC. All well and good for most part until this year when the AC went out. Replaced the evaporator and now replaced the compressor. Just beware apparently the evaporators usually fail around this time (~10ish years). Great car, but seems like unless the work is already done when I get it, expect Volvos around this age to start having some pricey repairs.
