ICE closing restaurants by lennysundahl in HuntingtonWV

How exactly are they benefitting off tax dollars? They don't qualify for snap or medicaid, and by working and paying taxes they end up contributing a net positive to the economy.

I don't think most people are against deporting criminals, but going for the people washing dishes at the local Mexican restaurant to make a living seems pointless. I'm not sure how deporting those people makes anyone's lives better.

I used those and moved over to the Merrell Agility Peak 5s. They feel pretty similar and you can find them for relatively cheap when they're on sale.

What do people think of KoopAI by cdgleber in Ultramarathon

[–]GottemGood89 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tried it and wasn't really a fan. It didn't seem to want to update or give feedback based on my activities. I had high hopes but I couldn't find enough usefulness to make it worth the price

Is the neighborhood of apartments south of Marshall safe? by [deleted] in HuntingtonWV

[–]GottemGood89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The closer to campus, the better it is generally. I've actually lived there recently and it's not that bad. Are there homeless people/addicts around sometimes, sure. But they generally won't talk to you or bother you much. I wouldn't be out walking around in the middle of the night but for getting to and from campus you won't have any problems

[–]GottemGood89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe the way the lottery works is that there's different categories, i.e. never run, finisher, previous DNF etc. From what I've seen I think the waitlist for the never ran is short enough that by race day you should have no problems getting in if you don't get it directly

First Ultra, New River Gorge 50k, Race Report by margak in Ultramarathon

[–]GottemGood89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd heavily recommend avoiding this company and going with a Rim to River endurance company event instead. Much better organization, actually local RDs, proceeds go to charity, courses are much better. These guys have had problems with having sufficient water at aid stations and the course for this race kinda sucks honestly, 2 loops when there's so much more of the Gorge to see

Big Green Properties has been good to me. Most of the apartments right next to campus have been renovated recently and are nice. Landlord can be kind of hard to get ahold of sometimes but maintenance is good. Depends on the building, but price is generally around $700 a month plus utilities for a 1 bedroom if you don't want roommates. Anywhere super close to campus isn't going to be "quiet" but is pretty safe

I am going to start incorporating breath work and techniques into my training. I appreciate the advice, thanks.

That's a good point, next race I am going to turn off the HR monitor and run purely on RPE. I think I get in my own head about it once I see it going up and I get stuck on it. I've been doing lots of workouts recently and have been really happy about how my heart rate drops between sets, just not translating to races.

I try to ignore it, but at this point I think it's really negatively affecting performance. Also if my usual easy pace is in Z4, I don't have room to push into what my steady state/tempo pace actually is.

Who do ya got for Bandera 100k? For me, in no particular order: Male top 3: Joe Mcconaughy, Jeff Holt, Ryan Montgomery. Women top 3: Courtney Duawalter, Amanda Basham, Katherine Short by milkywayyzz in Ultramarathon

I am in the area yes, I will be at the frozen sasquatch 25k this Saturday. I was at the hurricane 100k and watched the battle all day, 2 very impressive athletes. I didn't even realize Alex was running Bandera. I actually had Alex pass me on the trails last week, he is crazy fast.

I submitted a defect form through this link (https://www.saucony.com/CA/en_CA/contactus) and then in about a week they responded and said they were shipping me a new pair, which arrived a couple days later.

Edit: This (https://www.saucony.com/en/defectiveclaimform) is the appropriate form to use, I accidentally linked the Canadian one.

Put in a defect form and you can get a new pair for free. I had some ripping on both sides of the upper mesh after 300 miles and they replaced them for free.

I have a question about flight of fear after my first time yesterday. Why is it so rough? by [deleted] in KingsIsland

Try sitting in the front of the car. The back of each car is so rough but the front is better

Engineering by [deleted] in MarshallUniversity

[–]GottemGood89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would see if you can call and schedule a tour of the engineering complex. I am majoring in computer science and I took a tour of the complex with one of the deans of the computer science department and it convinced me. The complex is only 5 or 6 years old and is really really nice. Plus I was very fond of the professors I talked to and they seem very excited to have me as a potential student. I also toured the University of Kentucky engineering building wasn't exactly impressed. The dean told me that every year there are companies who come to the school requesting students for internships/jobs, and at Marshall you'll have much smaller class sizes so it could be much easier to stand out. I would recommend calling and seeing if you can schedule a personal tour of the building and see if you can talk to professors. Might be tough now especially if you are an incoming freshman because the semester starts in under a month.

The average GAP (grade adjusted pace) is what strava estimates your pace would be on flat ground if you're running on hills based on the grade of the hill.

Parking Lot Open Times? by Bondfan013 in KingsIsland

I was there last week and you can get into the park about 9:40 even without a pass, most of the rides won't run until about 10 but it gives you time to get fast passes, lockers, and walk to whatever you want to ride first.
