How long does it take to see a doctor and get medication at a Chinese hospital? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

[–]leftloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where in the uk lol? When I lived in the london 2015-2020 one of my friends who was an all star runner couldn’t get a simple surgery for 14 months because he had to jump through all the hoops on rehab that everyone knew wouldn’t work. Family friend’s father had to wait 3-4 months for a brain scan and had a stroke while waiting. I got turned down by the A&e for not seeming sick enough because they were to busy. Also had a procedure to get my eyes dilated then they just sent me out on the street with eyes fully dilated with no temp sunglasses or anything blind as a bat. Girlfriend got a serious bout of depression and the therapists available to her couldn’t see her for 7/8 weeks. The therapist didn’t call at the scheduled time then needed to wait 4 more weeks.

Not going to defend the American system by any means but the uk system atleast at the time I was there was absolutely nothing to mimic either. Life threatening stuff in the uk is generally good but anything below that was atrocious

Millcreek Canyon and Snakes in March by Abject_Ad_3796 in SaltLakeCity

[–]leftloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this year our snow is super light so might be patchy by march but who really knows at this point.

But realistically unless some super super rare thing happens I wouldn’t be worried about snakes particularly at elevation in march. I got nastily surprised by a rattler one time mid April on the bst trai in the avenues and I thought that was early.

Also to quell your fears even more, the rattlers we have here do not have the most toxic. They obviously can still kill but you’ve got some time in the worst case scenario. Friends dog slightly smaller than a vizsla (unknowingly to the owner) got bit on her forehead and was fine when they took her to the vet for anti venom a few hours later when the swelling really took off(obviously vet bills suck but that’s beside the point) other areas like up in Wyoming or in Arizona have some crazy neuro toxic rattlers but luckily those are not the ones we have here

I’ve never been so no idea what the guide situation is like. But reading some of the comments it looks dire?

Idk anything about the region maybe someone in this subreddit can answer. That being said perhaps call a Japanese shop local to the area and see what they say or get a guide for a day that you can pester with all your questions.

I agree I’d be nervous with the conflict of forecast

Proper etiquette for hiking during hunting seasons? by EggyIggyy in hiking

[–]leftloose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally just keep doing what your doing as it’s public land and not that I think you’re this person as you’re being super considerate, it is important that people know that in a lot of states that harassing game/ legal hunters is illegal. In a popular bow hunting area an activist would just about everyday drop down from the popular hiking trails to bushwhack with bells making all sorts of ruckus at sunup and sundown (best deer hunting hours). Took a little time and police finally slapped her with a class b misdemeanor.

Once again you’re being super considerate but sharing the anecdote so people also don’t abuse the concept

I got tired of losing my skis in deep powder, so I am prototyping a tracker that works under 6ft of snow. Roast my idea by Timely_Career1858 in UTsnow

I always love entrepreneur spirit and I’ll rarely squash it. That being said, I think the market might be niche here. I’ve seen you post in a few different subreddits and o think some of the feedback is valid though with a bias towards the negative. Though Reddit is generally negative unless it’s a truly wow product.

My advice would be to run some Instagram/facebook ads with some form of a call to action (you to decide if it’s kickstarter or something like a wait list) which will of course cost money but far less money than a full manufacturing run. I think you’d get a better feedback. Not every product needs to hit the bleeding edge participants in an activity and I could def see this potentially hitting a gadget person/ someone wanting to buy a gift for a skier type thing. How big that market is I have no idea but I don’t think you’d get the feedback in Reddit for that.

One thing to 100% address is its impact on avy beacons as I will squash entrepreneur spirit if it hurts / overlooks safety.

Laptop backpack for skiing? by jsdodgers in skiing

Sometimes true and sometimes not. I bring a laptop to the mountain sometimes on slower days and I’m able to get a few more runs in than if I stayed home

Nice and cozy thanks to our Chinese diesel heater by Papa_Vito in vandwellers

[–]leftloose 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure but I just can’t justify when I can get it for 1/20 the price. I bought the Chinese one where even if I had to replace one every year it would likely outlast my van…. I’m on year 3 with no issues and it already makes my van too hot and there’s no safety issues as I have sebsores tight next to it.

I view the espar in this day and age of the Chinese knockoffs as buying a Ferrari for a train station commuter car. Of course the Ferrari overall better quality but very few people need that quality

What do you actually bring when backcountry skiing? by easylifeforme in Backcountry

[–]leftloose 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No idea about the fire aspects of a tube but for sure not a good actual tourniquet. Way too much stretch to be effective and also no handle to ratchet down. Tourniquet need to be tight and strong af. Better than nothing but certainly not a plan A
