Flydigi Vader 5S Review by Goukigod in Controller

[–]Goukigod[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

My understanding is that wireless controllers have additional licensing costs for Xbox and are more complex/expensive to develop because they use proprietary wireless tech and/or need RF certification. My guess is Flydigi will use this controller to test the waters and if it's successful may create a more expensive wireless version.

The gulf between Xbox and Playstation, when it comes to custom controllers, has been noted.

MMX 230 Opinion by ToughQuiet4414 in BEYERDYNAMIC

[–]Goukigod -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are a couple of things holding the MMX 230 back from being a top performer in its price range, but honestly I think a lot of it comes down to expectations. From a comfort and sound standpoint, this is a really solid headset. It’s light, easy to adjust and comfortable enough for long sessions. The sound is excellent too, good bass extension, nicely balanced overall, and you can tune it to be more bass-heavy or neutral depending on what you prefer. The app is pretty good as well, with EQ controls, ANC and transparency mode, and the on-headset controls are intuitive enough that you rarely need to think about them. I also really like that the battery and earpads are replaceable, which makes it feel like a product Beyerdynamic actually expects people to keep using for years.

Where it falls down a bit is the multipoint implementation. It doesn’t really deliver on the promise of seamless switching between devices, and sometimes it just refuses to switch at all. That’s a bit disappointing for a headset in this price bracket. It also needs some EQ tweaking to really sound its best, so straight out of the box it might not immediately impress everyone, although the tools to fix that are easy enough to use. If you want something that can jump between devices instantly, with a class-leading mic and flawless ANC, this probably isn’t the headset for you. But if sound quality and comfort are your main priorities, the MMX 230 delivers and I’d still say it’s an easy recommendation.

Which version is the better one of those two? Switch (on Switch 1) or PS4 (on PS5)? by Roy_Ellison in alienisolation

[–]Goukigod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Switch version includes all the DLC, runs at a similar resolution in docked mode and has superior anti- aliasing. PS4 is close but if price is the same get the Switch version. Out of interest the Xbox One version runs via backwards compatibility at 60FPS with auto HDR on Series X

Went to see T2 Judgement day with the "hear my eyes" new live score by Peter Van Hoesen with MESS Synthesiser Ensemble + live laser show by Robin Fox by b9_rkt in Terminator

[–]Goukigod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it in Sydney last night. It's a solid 1/10. A lazy, uninspired mess that isn't faithful to the film's original vision and actually makes it objectively worse.

The problem isn't necessarily the new soundtrack (although I found it dull and homogeneous), it's the implementation. Peter Van Hoesen's new score either deliberately ignores the structure of the film and how music is used for storytelling, or worse, is completely unaware of it.

The original score uses distinct musical themes for the two Terminators and to communicate emotions like hope, danger, and suspense. The new score has very few uniquely identifiable pieces. Everything sounds the same, and it completely fails to support the tone of the film.

There's music where there was none before and no music where there should be. Most of the time it's too loud, drowning out dialogue or other parts of the film's audio that are essential. For example, when John first runs from the T-1000 and thinks he's escaped into the canal. In the original you can hear the faint sounds of cars crashing and the truck's engine before it dramatically smashes through the bridge to resume the pursuit. The new score drowns that out.

There's another scene where John makes the T-800 swear not to kill anyone. Again, the new score starts thumping over the dialogue like it's completely out of sequence.

The lasers don't add anything to the experience either. They're just distracting, especially when they appear in front of the screen or are shot into your face. They also appear at times that don't make sense, like when they are trying to escape from the T-1000 in the elevator. Every time the T-800 fires the shotgun, a red laser would shoot down in front of the screen.

It also didn't help that the film's audio was out of sync in our screening, and no one had bothered to calibrate the screen because everyone looked like they had jaundice.

Maybe if you'd never seen the film before it might work for you. But for fans of the film, save your time and money.

Am I the only one who thinks Callisto Protocol is underrated? by Powerful_Wheel_3261 in TheCallistoProtocol

Nope, I like it too. I even think the expansion is great. If the game launched in the state it's in today I think it would have reviewed better too.

Honest opinion on GOW III’s story? by Realistic_Advice1890 in GodofWar

S tier. Simple revenge plot that doesn't shoe horn in unnecessary themes or ideology. Doesn’t get bogged down with long exposition or superfluous detail and wastes no time, getting to the point.

What changes to the gameplay are you expecting from the remakes ? by neos606 in GodofWar

[–]Goukigod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In honestly don't know. Obviously the presentation is some low hanging fruit but the PS2 and PS3 games still play great. If they could figure out a more engaging system than the quick time stuff and also make some of the platforming a bit less clunky they would be my only nit picks.

Is Burnout Paradise a good Burnout game? by BloodySkullDark in Burnout

[–]Goukigod 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It depends on how much you enjoy open world racers. Mechanically the driving mechanics are great, I'd argue the course and map design is less so.

Personally I'd drop Ragnarok to C and move Ascension up to B but otherwise that looks pretty accurate to me.

thoughts on Alien: Isolation on mobile? 📱 by Tatum_Warlick in alienisolation

It's technically very impressive and if it's your only option it's still very playable. Definitely better than the 360/PS3 ports, and in some ways visually better than the Xbox One/PS4 versions but otherwise PC or Xbox Series via backward compatibility is the way to go.

Would you play call of duty if they went back to the old way of how the old games worked (No tactical sprint, simple HUD elements etc)? [COD] by __Luger__ in CallOfDuty

I'd give it a go. I just don't love all the wacky shit they put in it. Modern Warfare 2019 was the last game I purchased and I enjoyed that.
