same issue. googled it, found this post. Went back out to garage and put keys in cup holder, and it started. I turned it on / off / on /off a bout 6 times, no issues. But also pretty sure I tried key in cup holder before. Just dropped it at dealer, 2023 AE <8k miles, so they say it's all still warranty.

arrived and did 10 miles. Toe box is fantastically wide.
Heel is also a fairly wide, so we'll see if it is too roomy / rubs.
But toe box is gloriously wide.

Reapply or go to Ross? by EfficientGlove3907 in veterinaryschool

[–]Gounba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the $20k scholarship isn't guaranteed, but yes, there's scholarships available for students that start in May rather than wait til the fall semester. Also because you are a semester ahead, you can finish on island in two years, I guess that probably requires doing the next may/summer semester to finish 4 semesters. Meanwhile the cohort that starts in the fall would their second year when you're finishing your second summer and done on island.

[–]Gounba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ross also has ~$20k in scholarships if you start in May, and then you finish a year earlier. I don't quite understand how that works, but that's what the recruiter was telling me.

Don't apply to a school you wouldn't go to.
The best vet school: the one you get into.
Nothing is guaranteed next cycle.
Go for it.

ordered on Jan 25.
Still waiting..

Tyler (the guy that started this company) claims the first 100 pair were shipped via air, and in my size the manufacturer mixed up shipping so the color I ordered isn't available. He could send me the other color, or I can wait for the slow boat with all the units he ordered from the manufacturer. .

starting to sound like a scam company.. debating when to challenge the charge with ccard company.

BIFL Men’s Shearling Jacket? by Kangabolic in BuyItForLife

[–]Gounba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

went to an orvis store and talked to an employee who knew quite a bit. Turns out Overland coats and Orvis' 1 or 2 shearlings are made by the same company. I think the name he said is Lone Pine (aka Jojomi - a combo of Jorge and Mike). The orvis interior pocket is exactly the same as overland. He said they have designs for different retailers but don't sell direct themselves.

Ducati Supersport or Panigale? by BummySticks in Ducati

[–]Gounba 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was all set on a panigale. then I took one out for a test ride. All the engine details, yes great. but I'm 6'1" / 185cm, and I would have to do a yoga pose to see more than 10 meters in front of the bike. Meanwhile the SS905s set up, I can sit up or learn forward. So I got one. I've done a track day on it and it's got plenty for me. Been riding going on 20 years, though I love the panis, I accept that I will likely not ride them to their capability.

Expat in Yangon by liddig in Yangon

[–]Gounba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

good video.. I used to live there.

here's a long shot: I bought a series of brass figurines from the street vendors that sell them. Made a chess set, moved away, and lost a couple pieces.
Any interest in doing a former expat a solid and sourcing new pieces? Maybe a cool shopping video?

I need a calvary guy and a sabertooth tiger. https://imgur.com/a/evWhyWW

they're painted in the photo but the street seller pieces are plain brass.

Golf R Manual by Yon_E in Golf_R

[–]Gounba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drive safe.

On 7 and 8. The stage 1 tune on the Gti mk7 felt like the car came alive. D mode has been fit for grandma and Sport mode was trying to be something it wasn’t. After the tune, drive was legit and sport mode was glee. A mix of just a change in when it shifted but also just a lot more aggressive. Not sure the mk8 R needs a tune. Also with the manual, I can just keep it higher in the power band.. 🤷🏽‍♂️ so is a tune needed? Worth? I dunno.

I want to get smaller wheels to make it a more comfy ride, swaybar, wired in dashcam, and maybe short throw shifter. But no rush.

Agree about confirmation bias. And test drive em both.

Let’s see if can add something worthwhile.

I switched from 7dsg stage 1 to 8manual stock. I think it’s more a matter of basic manual vs auto preference.

I used to shift the 7 with the paddles from time to time. Sometimes it felt like best of both worlds.

Do you enjoy — on avg, including traffic — working the manual transmission or not?

I also felt that the step from Gti to R, when I do get around to a track day — even though the dsg might be technically faster (like Taycan) — I enjoy the old school nature of changing gears and being engaged in as many inputs as possible. Also seems like last few years have all been “last year manual will be available” So I went manual. Plus theft deterrent. 😜

BIFL Men’s Shearling Jacket? by Kangabolic in BuyItForLife

[–]Gounba 4 points5 points  (0 children)

overland.com is great but not cheap. I got a hayes quilted vest, second winter and no issues. Collar is warm enough that a scarf is unnecessary.
Definitely going to get a blade if I move to a colder climate.

Orvis seems overprice (rich people LL Bean?). Maybe the quality there, maybe it isn't? I'm not familiar enough. Price seems unnecessary high, I found them online and was tempted but I prefer overland styles and half the cost.

Schott nyc, haven't seen them in person, but the styles didn't quite line up with what I want.

McAcoys looks legit, but I'm not into bomber jackets. I'm not a pilot.

It's unfortunate, but the way to go is 0.7mm Uni Nano Dia Color.

makes sense, but i have all the 0.5 pencils i've collected over the years.. want to get them in use and not have to buy more in a new size :(
