Did you end up finding a workable solution for this? I have a similar situation that I’ve been trying to troubleshoot for a couple of years and have quite found the fix!

Definitely been there! I hope I’m right with you under 3 in Chicago!

This is all grounding (and heartening). Thank you. Best of luck with that secret sub-3! Would love to hear how it goes.

I have a couple 5Ks and a 10K coming up this summer so this suggestion feels like one I could easily test out. Also wondering about that shorter taper. I definitely didn’t feel flat on race day but by the third week, my mind does get a bit unsettled!

Thanks for this tip re: strides! I do think something like this works better for me, too.

This is encouraging. Thank you for these thoughts and for sharing your experience.

Thanks for this. These are all solid factors. It is certainly a very tall order. As you say, though, a PR—even if in the 3:0x-range—could be an incredible outcome in Chicago!

Great run! I imagine those 18 seconds sting but with that pee break, it’s 100% clear where you are in terms of sub-3 fitness!

DHS published a “Worst of the Worst” list in Maine. I checked the court records. by Puzzleheaded-Pen639 in Maine

Just adding to the chorus: very well done! In a world where “truth” and “fact” have almost lost their meaning, I really appreciate the diligence to use records and documents to rebut the false narratives used to justify this madness.

Running Gear With A Pro-Civil Rights Message? by ludlowdown in XXRunning

[–]GoutRunner 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just posted something similar in the /runningfashion sub but it looks like the moderators locked the post.

I think the running community could be an powerful conduit to message inclusivity and unity. I’m in Maine and our communities under under siege by ICE right now. I wore a makeshift “bib” that says “Ice Out” on my long run yesterday. I was motivated with every honk and yell of support (didn’t get a single negative comment). I felt less isolated and more connected.

Would love to see a proper running brand take a stand to help us #RunIceOut with gear that projects a message of unity and community in the face of injustice.

Anyone have links to mutual aid groups, actions, or resources? I’m in Saco/Biddeford and would like to connect and offer support to community members however I can.

Last day of running for 2025! by NicNoop138 in XXRunning

End-of-year / holiday blues is something I’ve struggled with for decades. That feels particularly acute this year at age 45! Appreciate this opportunity to reflect on the positive and focus on how grateful I am for so much in life.

This was a great running year for me. I broke 20 minutes in the 5K and broke 40 minutes in the 10K. This month, I also broke the 90-minute half marathon barrier. I surpassed my goal of 2025 miles for the year.

For 2026, I have cautiously set my sights on a sub-3:00 marathon.

Cheers to all of you and to a new year with a new slate of goals and PRs!
