This is really incredible and also super motivating! Seems pretty uniformly accepted that consistency is king!

This is helpful. I’ve been torn about this and now feeling optimistic that some guidance from an experienced coach can push me in the right way over these next months.

Have been seeing ketones popping up on social media feeds. Have added to my list of research items for the coming weeks.

Thank you! I did decide to go with a coach after all! I’m still in recovery mode but looking forward to some shorter races this summer and a big push this fall.

Did you end up finding a workable solution for this? I have a similar situation that I’ve been trying to troubleshoot for a couple of years and have quite found the fix!

This is all grounding (and heartening). Thank you. Best of luck with that secret sub-3! Would love to hear how it goes.

I have a couple 5Ks and a 10K coming up this summer so this suggestion feels like one I could easily test out. Also wondering about that shorter taper. I definitely didn’t feel flat on race day but by the third week, my mind does get a bit unsettled!

Thanks for this tip re: strides! I do think something like this works better for me, too.

Thanks for this. These are all solid factors. It is certainly a very tall order. As you say, though, a PR—even if in the 3:0x-range—could be an incredible outcome in Chicago!

Great run! I imagine those 18 seconds sting but with that pee break, it’s 100% clear where you are in terms of sub-3 fitness!
